Questions about CV Duo Sonic

Post by loomerz »

Been looking into getting one of these for a while, was wondering what peoples opinions are on the necks on them, cus I kinda like a fatter neck, and also what kind of mods are people doing to them..

Thankyou!

Really the smallest?

I thought the neck was SUPER glossy, and I also couldn't really get on with the 9.5 radius on it. I don't mind 9.5 on other necks, but for some reason it bothered me with the Duo.

definitely thin, but a little wide. I like it. This is the one guitar that I have not changed anything with or even though to.

Thin and Wide, my least favorite combination. I really enjoy the MIM 22.7" Duos but didn't care for the CV series Duo nearly as much.

Thats cool, I've heard some things about people changing the saddles on the bridges because the guitar goes out of tune quite easily, something like that

Hi, Loomerz. I used to stay on Beauchamp Road, East Molesey. You may know where that is right in the middle between East & West Molesey, near Hurst Road. My buddy there is Michael Calander who went to school in Bath, then University of Manchester Medical School where we first met. That would be cool if you knew him or his family (his father was minister of Education in Nairobi, Kenya, if that helps).

Anyway, I have a 2011 Squier Duo-Sonic Classic Vibe which I've enjoyed. Absolutely mint condition. To me the varnished neck feels good, the weight is light, it balances well...I could "wear" it all night. Another distinction, the "touch" is very light. It's not just the action being low. It's the feel of the strings in relation to the neck that I can only describe as "light"...it may be the short scale. My '65 Mustang (i.e. made in '65) has a similar "touch". I guess that's something you'd have to experience for yourself.

I'm not so picky about radius or thickness. But after playing it for two years, I want a wider neck for my medium-sized hands (I'm 6', weigh 188 lbs...sorry, me metrics & stone have gone rusty :( ).

It has a wide range of tones through my 2001 Peavey Classic 30 and 1998 Danelectro HT-50 amps.

So I'm just waiting patiently for a buyer. I PM'd ya.

Cheers,
Doug

Hey, I don't know if you've seen, but there is a Squier Duo-Sonic on Gumtree for £100, its old than the current CVs, but looks cooler I reckon.
I'd love it, but I don't need it.
