Wiring woes - help me Shortscale

Post by NickD »

I’m having a nightmare with the simplest of circuits - I may just have the pots reversed, but any wiring is a black art to me.

Sorry for the terrible picture, but I’ve got the guitar wired up as below and I’m getting sound, but the volume pot doesn’t go all the way off and the tone pot does nothing at all from what I can hear.

Fuck, I should have said: those knobs I sent you, one's metric, one's imperial. That'll fuck the whole thing.

Yeah, as per the pic Sunshiner put up, the wire between the two pots needs to go to the middle tag of the tone pot, and that tag and the tag it's wired to on the volume pot need to be soldered to earth/ground e.g./i.e. the case of the pot.

Thanks Nick - that was essentially the issue. I removed that wire, soldered the tags to ground and it works a treat now.

Isn’t that an Agatha Christie book?
