That’s pretty ridiculous to price it above the Waza line and significantly above any non-waza compact pedal. Though they must know what they’re doing, they will fly off the shelves after all.

I know Fender prices seem to be USD = GBP but I'm not sure that applies to Boss stuff. After doing some intensive research*:
  • DC-2w - $274.99 (£184.99 at GAK)
  • FZ-1w - $213.99 (£169.00 at GAK)
  • SY-1 - $229.99 (£159.00 at GAK)
  • DD-8 - $181.99 (£156.00 at GAK)
  • VB-2w - $236.99 (£175.00 at GAK)
  • OD-200 - $274.99 (£209.00 at GAK)

*Looking up a few pedals on Guitar Center's website (not sure if they're generally considered "good value" in the US but I had heard of them).

Ah, I was making what is known as a topical joke about exchange rates, which clearly landed well.

That Nux looks great. Midi capable, too.

Ah, sorry, went right over my head that one :D

Although given how many things (and not just in the guitar world) do seem to operate on a USD=GBP basis I was actually pleasantly surprised that Boss stuff didn't.

Andertons are quoting £209 for the RE-2 and £339 for the RE-202.

Honestly think it looks awesome but the DL4 MII is only £40 more than the RE2.

Was holding off but deffo gonna sell my Keeley Caverns v2 and looper and get the DL4 now

The DL4 is a modern classic, too, so the pricing looks totally out of whack when you compare the two. The DL4 MK2 is a pretty straight upgrade to a pedal that is otherwise very popular, and it's not as if the Boss pedals are actual tape echos or something, they're recreations (which is fine!). The Boss stuff is just way overpriced, unless you're some kind of Boss fanatic. Considering you can get an actual T-Rex tape echo for the same price as the RE-202... I know it's not that simple but they're trading on nostalgia rather than trying to price their stuff at all competitively.

Even looking at the higher end of the market in terms of the smaller, more exclusive pedal makers out there, that RE-202 £300 tag looks absurd. Once you're paying that much, why not go a little further and drop an extra £150 for the Hologram Electronics Microcosm? That's an extreme example, but look at what £300 gets you from Dr Scientist, Chase Bliss or Walrus Audio or something.

On the other hand, it's cheaper than the Strymon equivalent and they don't seem to have much trouble selling their pedals.

Pedal market's all gone a bit nuts tbh. There's so much stuff available now from £20 ish at one end to ££££££££££££££s at the other. You wonder how much longer it can on...

Hope they do a CE-1 in that 202 style case, but then I suppose that’d be $400 as well.

I have been wanting to get a proper looper, thinking about the DL4... main attractions are midi-sync and having all the footswitches.

I already have an HX stomp though, so I should just get a proper external controller for it rather than doubling up on the same functionality in the DL4.

Years ago I had an RE 501, sold it to fund a guitar, replaced it with a RE20, then an El Capistan for the sound on sound looping. Never felt as gnarly as the real thing.
