Fano Omnis

So, looks like Fano made an "affordable" Made-in-China series, at under a grand each. Thoughts?

They look like crap versions of Squiers. Even that Mexican P90 Fender "Mustang"costs less than that thing with the strat tailpiece.

When you press the accelerator past halfway it doesn’t actually go any faster, but the engine noise distorts

$999 is not affordable. It's not affordable for an MIM Fender, never mind some off-brand MIC crap.

Aye, that is still too expensive. Far too expensive.

Quite like the P-90/Mustang with a strat bridge. Can't decide if the LPele is cool or crap and overcrowded.

I like the LPele. But yeah - far too expensive. I look forward to getting a second-hand one for $500 in a year.

Against my better judgement, I actually love this. Although if I really wanted to satisfy my weird craving for a goofy-looking Les Paul with single coils, I'd be much more likely to just buy an Epi Les Paul SL.

Something just kind of stinks with Fano guitars for me. They're like Fender guitars with the quirks and individuality squeezed out, like made even MORE generic, for the Offsetguitars.com crowd, with an elevated price tag to match because they're exactly the kind of fuckers who equate a high price tag with quality.

I'm sure they're nice guitars but I dont see why I'd pay a thousand Ss for a Starcaster copy when I could pay 350 Ls for a Squier.

Ages ago, when Squier released the Bass VI hot on the heels of the Mexican or Japanese version they'd released that had a P90 in the bridge position or something, my mate bought one of the Squiers. His dad, who was a decent player himself, played it and thought it was fun, so went out and paid an extra few hundred for the Mexican one and was kind of dismayed that the extra outlay didnt make THAT MUCH difference, compounded by the fact that it was kind of a niche instrument to begin with. Undeterred, and still unable to bring himself to just buy a Squier, he got a Custom Shop one.

People are insane. Fano, and their relative success, basically embody that entire attitude to me.

I have no issue with paying for quality, at all. These look like overpriced, but fundamentally OK guitars. I could order a custom specced, UK made Gordon Smith in a similar spec to that LP JR type, for similar money. It does look kind of cool though.

Yeah, just too much for a Chinese brand. I will try one if I ever see one in a shop. Fans stuff is just the right side of ugly for me.

Until you said this, I was like "wow these are so boring, why did they even bother" and didn't even notice the bridges. Now I quite want to try a LP Special with a Tele bridge.
