Squier Classic Vibe Mustangs?

I recently saw on eBay some Chinese made Classic Vibe mustangs. Here’s one:

Are these new? Never seen these before. I wonder how they compare to the Indonesian made VM Mustangs. There was one up on eBay last week in red with a matching headstock. The ones I’ve seen for sale were all located in Japan.

I’ve never seen them up on Fender’s website, nor have I ever seen it mentioned on the interwebz. Anybody know more about these?

Only seen VM ones before. Had a quick look on the Fender Japan website and there are no Classic Vibe Mustangs on there.

Most people seem to really rate the CV Squiers though.

Headstock says “crafted in China� though? Aren’t the VMs Indonesian?

Trem is different too (although that could have been swapped).

Ooh, right you are. Also has a Fender stamped trem, but yeah could have been swapped. I'd be really interested to see a CV quality Mustang

That mustang is legit: before the official release at the Summer Namm 2012, Squier Mustangs were produced only for the Japanese market belonging to the "classic vibe" series and not the "vintage modified"; they had better finishes and had also a limited edition in CAR with matching headstock; some FSR Mustang Basses in Fiesta Red, CA Red and LP Blue were released too, check them on Google.

-Amplifier: Hughes&Kettner Blue Edition 60;
-FXs: Dunlop Cry Baby GCB-95 Wah, Boss BD-2 Blues Drive, Proco RAT, Danelectro Cool Cat Tremolo, EH Small Clone, MUZA FD900, Bespeco Volume pedal.

They seem identical to the VM Mustangs except for the tailpiece, tuners and country of origin.

There were red CV Duo Sonics (with tort guards?) for the Japanese market as well.






Not a Fender though, but I've seen on the webs made for the Japanese market MIC Epiphone Melody Makers(they should've called them Olympic really) with a single bridge pickup and a narrow headstock around the same time when Gibson was produccing MIA Melody Maker 59 reissue
