Gibson SG Standard 24Fret

Post by westtexasred »

My mom gave me $100 for Xmas so... I had to spend it on something good.I found this Gibson Exclusive SG Standard 24 Fret w/Firebird Pickup Heritage Cherry used online at GC for $799. I can get it for 18 months interest free on my GC card.It has a Firebird Mini HB in the neck and 57 classic in the bridge plus coil splitting push/pull knobs for both. Comes with a case too.

Will they let you do interest free on used guitars? I thought that only applied to new instruments.

Thanks,

That's a pretty unique guitar, had no idea they made that model. Great financing too, good luck with it.

AW FUCK ME FREDDY! I never knew this. So, many great deals/guitars that I've missed because I thought that the no interest offer only applied to new instruments. FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!

Thanks for the heads up!

So what I found out about the guitar I bought is that this is the 3rd version of the Gibson SG Standard 24 Fret.

The first was the the 50th Anniversary SG 24 made in 2011

Image

The second was also made in 2011 as a limited edition for AMS . It had the same '61 body routed for 2 humbuckers but it came with a '65 pickguard to attach the Firebird Mini HB. That model has a Tony Iommi HB in the bridge and kidney bean Grover tuners. That version came only in an Ebony finish.

Image

The one I bought is the 3rd version which was made(I think) in 2014 also for AMS has a 57 Classic HB in the bridge and coil taps for both pickups. That one came in both Heritage Cherry and Ebony finishes.
This one also comes in a cool brown case with pink lining like the '61 reissue I used to own.

I picked it up at GC today. I haven't played it yet because it is still defrosting and I don't want hurt the finish. Still, I had to see it so I open the case for a few quick snapshots.

That's aweseome Westie.
I love SGs and that's a nice one. Mini hum looked odd at first, but it works.

Nice acquisition, WTR! More meedley-meedley frets and chimey neck pickup, glad to see another release of this SG.

But was the bridge/bridge pickup bleeding T1000 fluid or something?

I remember the NGD thread for your SG Standard, do you still have it?
