Another Teisco / Duosonic Mashup.

Post by cooter »

Here's a mockup of what I'm doing with the Teisco Zenon loaded pickguard I bought over at offset and a Warmoth 24" scale neck I got in a trade. I'm using the pickups/switches in a custom aged white pickguard. What a pain that template was to make. I need to get new pots and some misc screws to finish wiring up the pickguard. The body is made of poplar and I'm planning a relic'ed black finish. With all the routes the body is pretty light.

I'd have gone for relic'd white but black will look sweet too. Great work as always

Thanks! I've been in a "paint it black phase" lately but vintage white would look nice as well.
Here's a couple pics under the hood. It's like the Grand Canyon under there but those pickups are really tall.

Neck is finished. Or, refinished in this case. The body needs a few more weeks.

Chipped tuner holes.

Here's what's left of the little turtle man.

Closeup of the chipped tuner hole. Not completely hidden but filled and finished. Just looks like odd grain pattern from a distance.

All finished. I love the sound of these old pickups. With a little overdrive I can get a full nasty fuzz sound or if I switch to the two back pickups I can get a thinner, out of phase, 60's garage punk sound and a lot of combos in between.
The black, slightly matte finish works well for my personal taste. A pretty nice addition to my funky little collection.

Cooter, you seriously do THE best and coolest builds. You need to get a custom shop going on, for reals.

Thanks guys.

Hey Shad, I even got the color right on this one.

Doog, you're too kind. If you want to see some truly cool work check out the builds that "Harvester" does over at offset. The guy is a god.
If I ever win the lottery I want to fly over and have him build me a guitar just so I can watch him work. That is if he doesn't swear out a restraining order.

Another masterpiece!

Do you make your own decals or outsource them?

Thanks,

Lovely job! The jumbo switches are a nice touch.
