Mustang Pickups/Switching/Polarity etc..

Post by JohnnyTheBoy »

Right, this has probably been asked before...although i've searched and couldn't find the same specific questions...so, forgive my ignorance..
Can any of you Mustang bods clear this up for me...

I'm led to believe that mustang pickups are wired thus;
Bridge: Clockwise Wound/South Polarity UP
Neck: Counter Clockwise Wound/North Polarity Up

So my question is...if mustang pickups are wired specifically like this, and mustang slide switches and wiring are specific as well,
what effect on sounds will it have when using Strat-specific or Lace sensor type single coils, where the poles/polarity are the same in both pups, but are wound differently to mustang pickups?.
I'm figuring if the polarity is different in the mustang pups, but the same in say both bridge and neck Lace sensors, then surely you wont get the same sounds when using original mustang switch wiring.
Will i be better off wiring my mustang,(which has Lace sensors) to the 5.0 schematics with Bridge/Both/Neck Inphase/Outphase/Dark????
Will it make a jot of difference??
Cheers..
