SuperSonic II (SonicStang?) COMPLETE

Post by Pens »

Okay, so now that I finished my last major project, I'm starting to plot my next major guitar design that I want to realize.

I basically want to clone my supersonic, but give it a normal neck pocket, and move the controls to actual left handed.

Since I want to put in a normal neck pocket, I figure I probably need to give the upper horn some more wood (hehehehehehe). Below are a few rough draft mockups that I'm kicking around. What say y'all?

WHICH ONE SHOULD I DEW??

One is a Jag horn

one is a smaller-scaled Stang horn

To be honest I really want to make both the first and the second one. The first one is basically a Jag with some slightly smaller body lines, which gives me boners. But for the "supersonic" feel, I think the second one fits it best. Yah?

Second one is the best in my eyes, then the first one. really don't like the third option.

Okay, depending on how this works out, I think I'm going to make both #1 and #2.

#1 will be my "left handed blacktop jaguar that Fender won't ever fucking make", with the control plate flipped left handed like my MIJ Jag. Probably do this in black or some kind of fucked up sunburst like I saw on another forumite's guitar recently, like a botched and partially sanded sunburst.

#2 will be my "Supersonic clone" that I'll do basically exactly how it is above, white with white guard, right handed control plate but in the proper place. I'll probably just use plain white primer covered in clear coat.

I liked #3 in the way that recent chopped 64 Stang was, but overall I think there's too much upper horn there.

Once I get the templates made we'll see how far this goes. I think imma sell my lefty Hagstrom to finance this one.

Sorry for the slowness in tracing your super-sonic template. I will get on that right away.

No probs, dude. We all have shit going on. This is still in the planning stages.

Hell, my Musicmaster took 8 years to come to reality. I'm hoping these will take less time, but I'm not exactly in a huge hurry here. I'd like to have them both done within two years.

YOur designs remind me of an Inter-Mark Cipher design that I have been planning to make for myself some day. Not the layout but the body shape of the horns.

I like #2 and then #1. #3 comes in fifth.
So, hardtail? I hardtailed one of my Super-Sonics with a left-handed tele bridge. Very happy with that.
What neck are you going to order? A Mustang or Jag one? Inverted headstock?
A Whole Bunch of Guitars. Some with sparkles. Some with Pearl. Some with racing stripes.
