Fender Mustang question.

So, I'm a little rusty on my mustang knowledge but I'm very interested in purchasing a mustang and I've been wondering what a fair price might be for the older reissue models, like the 69 reissue? I have seen them on craigslist from anywhere from like $400-800 or so.
Are the older reissues quality guitars?
Also, what is a fair offer to make on a 69 reissue in good condition?

well as the re-issues new can usually be found for about 800..
i'd say 400 - 600 is probably a good call.
my 65 (orig, stripped) was 600
my 71 was 800
my 74 was put together from parts and about 500 when said and done..

ebay prices are stupid at the moment..
i've been keeping my eye one a couple re-issue stangs sitting in shops around town and they are priced about 600 - 1000 depending.
and they have my 65 (i sold it to pay rent last summer) sitting in the shop that i sold it to for 900.. they will never get that for it.

I know, ebay prices are insane and the prices vary depending on how bad the person needs money.
I've seen some non reissue mustang go close too the same price as some reissues.

I haven't checked ebay prices in a while, but I bought a 1976 mustang in about 8/10 condition (all stock) for $750 in 2007.

In 2006 I had bought off of Craigslist a '69 RI, dead stock and completely mint (only 6 months old, still had the plastic film on the pickguard) for $650. I think I might have overpaid a bit, I remember seeing them usually going for $400 to $500 on ebay. The '69 RIs sometimes get a bad rap, but I think that's undeserved. The only weak point that they have, in my opinion, is that the stock pickups are a bit anemic sounding. But that's easy to swap out and any strat pickups will fit. The build quality is excellent, probably better than on the vintage ones.

Just keep checking ebay everyday, eventually someone will post a mustang with a decent buy-it-now price, then act quickly. That's how I snagged the '76.

I'm pretty sure a friend of mine has a 69 RI mustang. I don't know too much about them but it is black with a pearloid pickguard on it. It was the guitar that made me want to play a mustang. I bet he'd let it go for $400-ish.

i seen local ones go for 650 Canadian $ for a MIJ reissue, and another guy trying to sell a original 1966 mustang with 'custom' paint job for 1000$,

i have to say, mustangs are overpriced guitars.. only because cobain used them.
and i like the standard mustang better than the competition.

The poostang I sold to Reece can be seen above it.

The RI was stock when I got it, but I've since modded it with a black pickguard, white button Klusons, Lace Sensor pickups (blue in the neck, red in the bridge), and 1meg pots. I've been considering swapping the pickups again for regular singles (but not the stock ones, they were very "meh").

The neck on the '69 RI is fantastic. Thin and narrow, surprisingly playable for a guy with large-ish hands like me. The poostang's neck was too wide for my tastes, so I only kept it for a few months.

Also, the RI has a basswood body, making it super light. That's a good thing for me, since I'm pushing 40 and the warranty on my back has expired.
