favorite albums to play along to

For all non-guitar instruments; mandolins, synths, kazoos, and anything else musical that doesn't fit elsewhere.

I don't really play any of my newer tastes. I mostly play piano now so rarely learn guitar based songs.

The odd time when I have nothing to do, I will break out one of a few older albums I dug in highschool and play through them. Most of them are easy enough to pick up as you go along.

The Paperbacks - An Episode Of Sparrows
Lawrence Arms - Apathy and Exhaustion
GBV - do the collapse, isolation drills.

Lots of GBV love here. I am sure I could learn Bee Thousand or Alien Lanes pretty quick, definitely some fun stuff to play. I would play along to VU more but all the albums sound like they're tuning to each other - its slightly out of standard so by the time I tune myself by ear I don't want to play anymore.

I recently found a Pavement site with tabs in the correct tunings. DADABE and CGDGBE are two seriously awesome tunings, so much fun.

Any chance of a link to that? I've had "Quarantine The Past" on repeat for a month or 2 now, but Malkmus is one of those guitarists where I find it difficult to work out what he's doing by ear alone.

Update, I've been trying to learn a lot of old Dream Theater songs. Images and Words is a great album to jam with /learn. I imagine for those of you who grew up chugging along with metallica, the DT songs are much easier to learn. For someone like me the riffs and can be quite challenging sometimes.

BSSM & Stadium Arcadium
These two Chili Peppers albums are fun to play along to. Plenty of room to improv licks.

Great way to get better without feeling like you're practicing.
