borrowing an SG special (EMGz) from portugalwillie for a spell. was wanting to buy it, but am sadly not getting on with the neck, as it's considerably larger than the dot. but what a beauty.

perhaps it could go in the favorite beaters thread, but this is my all-time favorite thing in the world. '65 sg special. i bought this seven years ago at a pawn shop for $900. some joker installed an awful floyd rose(?) bridge and a decentish aftermarket bridge pickup. it was already pretty worn-in, but then i ran over it. whups! a guy here in raleigh epoxied the head together and put a couple splints in it. the frets are almost not-existent. a filthy fucking guitar in my filthy fucking bathroom.

loaded the drums in my car...thought the guitar player (who was borrowing it that night) was taking it in his car. he sat it behind mine, thinking i'd see it and put it in the trunk. i didn't see it.

I only have one guitar now, the Blacktop Jazzmaster. I just had the stock humbucker replaced with a Gretsch Filtertron. Loving it.

^ wow. I bet that sounds cool. best of both worlds there. bridge is all jangle times, neck is all fat harmonic rich crunch.

EDIT: damnit fran you blocked my pointy arrow. I was talking about the BT jazz.

I've been playing it some more tonight (got it back this afternoon) and what a difference changing a pickup makes. I rarely ever used the DD humbucker (even with dirt) because it had a nasal, middy tone, so I only used the neck pickup. Now, I have three usable settings, a versatile guitar, and that elusive jangle on the bridge that I've wanted for a long time.
