Yeah and given the angle I probably would. The original neck is brilliant at that end and I love the shape with the shorter end frets too. But reproducing that is probably more trouble than it’s worth.

Take the truss rod out and trim it at the other end

Mitre the neck

Little tickle with sandpaper

Reinsert truss rod

Profit?

I don’t know what I’m talking about by the way

Necks and truss rods are a total mystery to me

I'm attracted to the prospect of knackering the truss rod on the replacement neck that you bought to fix the guitar with the neck with the knackered truss rod.

Quite the paradox!

Curious to know if you couldn't fix the OG neck with a tuned-up heavy set of strings, heat and some time?

It’s an inward bow, so I guess heavy strings would make it worse! I’m sure it could be salvaged, if it was clamped and heated for a while, but it’s not a great neck shape so not particularly inclined to spend any time on it tbh.

Ohhh I didn't clock that, sorry! Hm, definitely more tricky then, and sounds like not worth any effort anyways

So..., light strings? And ... cold?

is there any value in soaking it in something and weighting the ends of the neck down for a ridiculous amount of time? like others who have posted, i know next to nothing about how to make any of this work and do agree that the neck is likely not worth much effort at this point... unless by some miracle there is a way.

that said, i seem to recall the headstocks resembled a shortened cricket bat, so not like the aesthetic couldn't use an upgrade.

I tried to fix a back bowed neck (other way to this, but the same theory) and I had it in a straightening jig for a couple of weeks and it didn’t shift at all.

It became the basis of one of the guitars we destroyed at Doogfest.

If I liked the neck shape or the headstock I'd probably try something, but as it is I think I'll just save it for destruction at Doogfest: The Reunion

I was going to start a new build thread, but figured I might as well keep it all in one place. A bit of progress today, broke out the old Dremel router and did the neck pocket. I took my time (i.e. it took fookin' ages!), but I'm really pleased that it came out well and I didn't cock it up!

Rough mock up with the neck:

The corners of the neck heel are a bit sharp/square so I need to sand them to get it to fit properly.
Need to take a notch out of the pickquard next too. Tuners arrived this week so it's coming together.
