It's a weird conditon that you might want to get checked out!!r40f wrote:i've never been able to appreciate teles... i just think they look kind of dumb and i hate the feeling of playing them. but i guess there are a lot of great records with teles on them, so maybe it's just me.
They say great minds think alike....Sometimes we do too...

indeed,
teles are pure, thats why they are so popular,
its a down to earth basic guitar.
think about it like this.
imagine that you knew what you wanted, and then started shouting it out, you would come up with a tele.
"better fret access!"
leo; ill just cut out the bottom!
"needs to stay in tune for days!"
leo; I'll make the strings go thru the body and break that angle at 90 degrees!
"I NEED THE RAWK TONEZ TOO"
leo; I"LL INFUSE IT WITH MOJO!
and that, is a roundabout way that the tele was delivered from the birthing hips of leo fender.
(not really)

Yeh but without the top cutaway, it actually has worse fret access than most guitars on the market.robert(original) wrote: think about it like this.

Theres nothing intrinsic to the tele design that keeps it in tune is there? Surely thats to do with the quality of the tuners? Anyway bet my flloyd rose equipped guitar stays in tune better.robert(original) wrote: "needs to stay in tune for days!"
Are tele's made for rock? I only played one standard in the guitar shop, and it was really bright and low output. Lovely clean tones, so i sort of get the appeal, but its still not as versatile as say a strat. Also i dunno every single bloody UK indie band current plays with one - it's getting silly now.robert(original) wrote: "I NEED THE RAWK TONEZ TOO"

with what - me? Is so point out what i got wrong??!Sublimedo wrote:wow. I 100% disagree, man.
Dont get me wrong, i'm not knocking telecasters. But at the same time they dont appeal to me, aesthetically or sound-wise.
That said, i played this in a guitar shop:
and it was one of the best guitars i ever heard - pure RAWWK. But thats not a typical tele, cos of the P90s..
if i must.aphasiac wrote:with what - me? Is so point out what i got wrong??!Sublimedo wrote:wow. I 100% disagree, man.
most guitars have a difficult fret access by the top horn. Why? because one usually plays with their palms or wrist behind the neck, only requiring single cutaway access. unless you play cheesey metal solos.aphasiac wrote: Yeh but without the top cutaway, it actually has worse fret access than most guitars on the market.

Well, the tele as well as the Les Paul are essential hardtail guitars, which tend to stay in tune better than anything with a tremolo in my experience. You definitely don't need need something outlandish and bloated as floyd rose simply to stay in tune. unless you play cheesey metal solos.
hmmm...you may be on to something. As teles were originally made in the 1940's before Rock even existed and people were listening to "dixie's land" or other early american silliness. It was originally marketed as the first electric spanish guitar and pissed off a whole slew of blind folk who just wanted play on table steels for the end of time. so no, they weren't made to rock. they were there to revolutionize. It's the ultimate grandfather to every solidbody we all own. So it's a good thing every indie band plays one. Its not a trend. IT'S ROOTS! Not to mention that teles have a biting sound that nothing else compares to. Those single coils are rude as hell with the right amp and kick the shit out of any 560 dollar EMG pickup you play on. I don't see why'd you want one of those anyway. unless you play cheesey metal solos.aphasiac wrote: Are tele's made for rock?
