I honestly believe with just the right tweaks to this guitar, Jack White would want one...Hell you could prolly send him one and see what happens...but make sure its perfect before then.

I like the idea of the Mercury, actually. I really do. But here's how I'd like it to be before I ordered one:
  • Long 6-a-side headstock, I'm not fussy if it's reversed or not, could look good. I'd like it to be an angular Fender rip with some smoothed edges.
  • Humbucker routes to allow me to stick in my own pickups (probably humbucker sized filtertron lookalike P90's)
  • Bigsby. I'm not suggesting NoHo stick this on themselves, maybe just leave it open for me to install one myself.
That's it. I don't really care if it's Aug. We've had disagreements and arguments, and some might call me mad, but I actually have faith in the fact that he can turn out a decent piece of work if he puts his mind to it. While some might think the Mercury looks like a prototype, and see that as a bad thing, I don't see it that way. I'd say that proves that DDD and Aug have what it takes to really push something fantastic out of the door in the future.

I'd think it looks okay, but for some reason maple boards usually look kinda cheap and projecty, and the colour, which looks light and faded in the photograph doesn't help.

I think I'd like it with a rosewood and a different colour (say olympic white with tort, or sonic blue with pearl, or fiesta red with mint green, all Fender staples, but I've a feeling it's that sort of thing that's being aimed at).

I'm not fond of the headstock, but that's a minor thing I suppose. Given that the body seems sort of like a Mercury take on Fender designs, I'd like to see a Mercury take on a Fender headstock (without being really derivative. Most six a side headstocks look almost apologetic for not being Fender. It'd be cool to see something that's a bit more angular, like the body. I reckon a reversed headstock, similar to a mustang headstock, but with straight edges on the bit that's closest to the bridge, sort of raking towards the player then going out to the usual bulbous end of the stock).

I'd also like to see the top horn agree with the top of the pickguard more. I'm not sure how this could be achieved, as both are well designed, and you sort of wouldn't want to comprimise either.

MUSTANG BRIDGE!!! and more chrome generally.

Either way, it's not my design, so I probably shouldn't be commenting. I almost really like the guitar, but there's a few things that I couldn't sit with.

I thought about that but most of my guitars have trems and I don't use trms a lot so I decided to go hardtail with this one.The mapple and matching HS was my idea.
I'm already tweaking it....

Haaa.I got that chrome "M" off a hearing tester the nurse at school was tossing out.(Also got lots of cloth wire and switches and those brown chickenheads I posted way back when.)
I think the "M" is classy.

Does look much better without that void of space.

What type tuners are they? Klusons are my favourite.

It looks much more boxy than I remember, perhaps as a result of being placed next to the 'stang. I think if I was to have one, it'd have to be a bit more curvy. I love the wraparound bridge, lipsticks, and the paintjob looks top class.

They're not Klusons, Klusons have the hole in them like your Mustang.

I prefer to call it relicing it.

glad you got it!!!
seems like a cool lil git fiddle.
personally, its not my bag.
the design is cool, the pups are cool, the neck and scale is cool, but i generally don't like 3 on 3 keys, and i hate wrap around bridges. im sorry guys but for abotu 20 buks you can score a tune o matic and actually be able to intonate your guitar instead of generalizing it and it getting it "almost there"
hell i bet that wrap around was 3 bucks less than a tune o matic.
but there is a plus to it.
you never have to mess with it, you just put strings on and tune and you are done, so in a way its the perfect backup guitar for gigging out, if your main fails, then your noho never will!
what was the totally running time on how long it took?
