From what I understand the Baja is essentially a production run of a custom shop model.

I've never played a new Highway One Tele unfortunately so I can't give you the direct results, but I wasn't that impressed with teh old one I played.

The Baja telecaster has a better bridge (brass saddles = twang and sustain), better pickups, more switching options and a better colour scheme (in my opinion). the soft V neck isn't very Vish at all, which was my concern before playing one. It's very similar to the big clubby C neck on my Telecaster Deluxe (which is bigger than a standard Telecaster C.

I think you'd be happy with either, but I love my Baja Telecaster:

Used with teh JVM and 6100:

The Baja Tele also has a 5 screw pickguard which is chock full of mojo.

Find the guy that stole my baja tele and beat him to death and then play it.

You described my perfect guitar, that's the way I feel about them. The Deluxe neck heel is way thick, otherwise I would have tried it on my Baja.

I'm unsure if it is the same heel as a Custom so you can swap the necks, I doubt it though.

If I had brought my Tele to Doogfest we could have done this kinda.
