robroe wrote:Quick observations. Jazzmaster pickups have screws not pole magnets, bar magnets are on the bottom. So its built like a jazz sized sandwich P90.

Combo of plastic shielded wire guts with cloth leads off these pickups. Fancy.

The chambering is a center block and the rest is open at least as far as these sunglasses....they didnt touch when I jammed them in there.
It is pretty loud not plugged in.

Its light. 5 pounds? I'm using a bathroom scale with me holding it.

The low e on these strings is actually a little bigger than what I'm used to.

I cant plug it in and rage until 3pm when hilary is done with GEICO.

Two bar magnets at the bottom that is a P90. Would be interesting to read their official description of the pickups

Are those the type of pickups they used in the JazzMascis?

I was reading something to that effect on a 60 Cycle Hum video/thread; are real Jazzmaster pickups really that costly to make?

More rawk out the box for players running a couple pedals into a clean little practice amp or working with a low-wattage t00b scheme, I'd assume.
I've found with modeling gear and stuff I don't have to worry as much about what pickups a guitar has anymore to get the same basic array of classic toanz, but definitely remember finding certain bridge position single coils (like the ones that came stock in my CIJ Jag and AV Strat) too thin and low-output for my liking back when I bought guitars based solely on the look or an artist connection. Given that most Jags/JMs to come out in the time since then have generally sought to ward off some of that "well, they can't do everything" vibe with middier bridge pickups or higher output, it may be as easily explained as that. P90s aren't a bad choice given that they can take on very single coil-ish or more humbucker-y sounds depending on how all your other stuff is set up.

All I really essentially am saying is it'll totally get teh kurdtz without doing an JB.

And rob, Baritone Slinkys are .013s but the lowest string is something crazy like a .072
The extra big low E on the set you bought are the 5th string on those. Probably better off with a different line like D'Addario EJ22 XLs (13-56 with a wound .026 G)

Yeah, that's a fair point I guess; they'd sooner use existing parts and processes than start overwinding Jazzmaster pickups for just a few models.

totally dont need to modd

(although they're already doing that other Squier JM models..)

I just bought these because it's the only remotely close to what I use that they had left.

I like your doom drone style. You should get a drummer and bassist and make an band. Or at least get a drum machine or something.

I like the sound, very throaty. It's interesting, what circuit could it be built around?

The 1x10 really pushes all mids. But mixes it all in. With the bassier cab tones and clarifies the wall of sound without making it shrill.

They seem to have discontinued your model. There are no guitar heads in the main menu anymore. There are a couple of demos of it on youtube and they sound good. That's one of the nicest overdriven channels as far as you could get it from a youtube demo
