Not touched it for a week! but tonight drilled the body and screwed the neck on, measured up and screwed the bridge on too.

Then to make sure it's all on straight I put a couple of strings on!

I'm happy!

Still need to finalise my pick guard design and route the cavities for the electronics.
Still need to do LOTS of sanding and grain filling before paint.

BTW; I've decided to put the pickup musicmaster-style in the neck position.

I've redesigned my pickguard. Rough cut it, i'll sand it to size then bevel the edge.

Routed out the body (BADLY). Needs a bit of filler to hide my fuck ups! Then grain filler and paint.

And slapped a decal on the headstock.

Was planning on a custom decal, but I'm a cheapskate.
Been clear coating the neck. Looking good

Got a bit further with the pickguard, sanded and filed it down to size.
Then I attacked it with a drill and a file to make a hole for the pickup.
I placed the knobs I got to see what it looks like.

If carlberg made guitars, they'd probably be better than mine! (with less filler!)

Well I'm almost there.
I've done the electrics, had to re do the route a bit to clear the GIANT orange cap.

The paint isn't perfect. There are a couple of blisters where I wet sanded through to the wood, and painted over and it bubbled up.
Other than that it's OK. And I ran out of paint.

Just a bit of drilling and some screws and it's done.

Remember this is my first wood working experience, so could have been a mega disaster!

The pickup is a kind of hotrail type thing.

So near and yet so far...

I started stringing it up, couldn't get a decent action without jacking the bridge up. So I'll need at least longer grub screws for that.
Then I decided to plug it in to see how it sounded. VERY QUIET! I'll need to rip it apart to check through the electrics.
I'll save that til Monday.

Quick update:
I sorted out the quietness, i got some shielding paint on the jack socket (don't ask!).
Strung it up with Ernie Ball 12s.
The Innotation is off and the bridge is on a fucking stupid angle and the grub screws are too short, but is kinda playable.
Might have to space the bridge up a bit?
I got the action better with a bit of brute force and iggnorance! The neck pocket is a bit tight!

I set the innotation and the action, I haven't needed to adjust the truss rod.
So I now have a fully functioning instrument.
I had doubts about having just a neck pickup, but I like it.
I've got a bright switch on my amp so I can vary the tones more.

I'm already planning my next build.
When I bought the ash body blank I got 2, just incase I messed it up.
I didn't mess up, so bought an all maple generic neck with a big fat paddle headstock off eBay.
I've got a pair of epiphone stacked P90 pickups.
I've been busy designing...

I used spacers under the bridgeon my Duo-Sonic. They're made out of CDs.

I considered spacing the bridge, but decided that having the saddle adjuster screws on a stupid angle was better.

I got some longer grub screws for free! (Too long)
And I read somewhere about steep break angles making better sustain or some shit like that? So I convinced myself!

Before I made this, I put together a Telecaster kit. And the saddle adjuster screws on that are on a steeper angle than on this!

I would NOT reccomend buying a kit guitar. I learned from, it but the neck is crap and I changed the pickups...
For the same money you could get a squier and mod that.

I do reccomend you BUILD yourself something unique.
