My Tele Needs Help

Post by jon183 »

theres a nice little gap kinda warping out from the body and the pickguard. but the pick guard is pretty snug against the control plate and the neck. could it be wack pick guard or poor placement of the control plate? it is mexi...dang mexicans.

I think your pickguard is "whack" a lot of the time they don't quite match up, Ive had mroe than one pickguard that I had to battle.

not quite, the Squier 69 RI is 24 3/4 isn't it? Even then it might be a conversion neck, but who knows. The Fender version of the same guitar ought to be 25.5" however

Except for Squier/Fender, I believe. Fenders have a slightly rounded but at the top odf the neck, Squiers are sqaure.

I seem to remember shad made an excellent thread about this befire he went off on the lamb.

my affinity took a MIM neck perfectly, with not gaps.

is there a pic of the gap? it might just be a poorly fitting pickguard. 3 of the screwholes on mine don't match up, and i had to wiggle it a bit to fit the neck pickup.

Well that proves me wrong.

Maybe I'm thinking Strat/Tele aren't compatible.

strat necks will usually fit tele pockets, but not the other way around.

that's it.

strat necks have the rounded hell, so will go in a tele pocket, but with gaps at the corners that aren't really a big deal anyway. tele necks will not fit in strat neck pockets because of the square edge.

Well then, i was nearly right, somewhere I suppose.

Conclusion: Some necks won't fit on other guitars.

Does that help?
