Broken-caster $549

Post by rahbro »

http://reverb.com/item/47723910-fender ... owercaster

i have wanted a powercaster foreeeeever. but the sfg or the pearl white ones are always like 1500 bucks. the shit brown ones run about 800 no way.

so this one is 549, "may" be broken in half.....but i cant tell. if the neck is just fucked up on the sides and i can sand off the gnar I am going to take it. If its cracked all the way thru and like floppy fuck it....

i think its gibson scale so finding a new neck for it isn't going to be the easiest...and it won't say POWERCASTER all over the headstock either which rules.

That looks deeper than finish cracks to me. Looks weird. Might this be why we don't roast maple?

I want to say my local shop had one in nicer shape for about the same if not less, I had forgotten all about this model so I had no idea about Values and wasn’t interested at the time- if I see another or that one pops up locally I’ll let you know.

I reckon if it's a guitar you really want, you should talk yourself round to spending the money on the one you actually want, instead of spending most of the same amount of money that is broke to fuck in some weird way.

I'm sure HNB could sort you out with a POWERCASTER decal if you could source a replacement neck.

Would the Squier Toronado/Cyclone II necks fit? They're Gibson scale.

yes exactly.

that black squier toronado that went on sale for like 299 last year would be PERFECT for this project

you get the whole fucking guitar instead of paying 250 for a fender cyclone neck

i keep learning this lesson that you need to buy these oddball guitars the day they come out. because if you don't they are fucking gone a month later and the price doubles.

the only exception I can think of that I still haven't bought is the green Lead II. I still want that thing so bad and it appears to still be in fenders production line up. all it needs is a white pickguard and black robroes and it would be THE SHIT

It’s difficult to really work out what the issue is with the pics and description given, tho I reckon that injecting glue in the sides of the fretboard if there’s cracks there and into those cracks on the Fretboard and clamp the shit out of it.

I get the feeling that he’s maybe not slackened the truss rid and it’s still putting pressure on the neck.

It looks like that giant mineral line in the fretboard just popped. It might even be worth shooting Fender an email if you buy it. They might fix that shit for you.

P90 and a humbucker is a great combination abs that colour if very Robroe.

Plus, I wouldn’t trust buying a damaged guitar from someone who hasn’t adjusted anything on it.

Or make a lower offer, taking into account the cost of a replacement neck... At least that way you're minimising the risk.

The crack coming out of the bottom of the 12th fret slot looks like a pro repair or replacement neck situation. I bet a few of the strings choke out or buzz like crazy when you play below the 12th fret.
