There are few things worse than guitar butchering

Post by Taylor704 »

I didn't think these sorts of things happened to good guitars, but I've sadly been proven wrong. This advert was on the London Gumtree page from Monday and for the life of me, I cannot think what the owner was planning.

- Why would you take the P90 pickups from that Jaguar, which make it sound great? If he wanted to get single coils in there, why not grab an ordinary Jaguar, Fender or Squier, otherwise?
- Having done that, why would you then try to cover the routing with possibly the worst pickguard I've ever seen?

These sort of things are just upsetting, and they remind me of what a cruel musical world we live in.

Rant over.
Yes.

i never really liked that specific jaguar model but really what the fuck is the point of this at all? the stock model was perfectly fine, if they wanted tiny single coil jaguar sounds so badly on the cheap they could have just bought a squier jag??? this one photo is absolutely perplexing like even the old humbucker hardtail squier jags wouldve been a better option for butchering

this really has me all fucked up like i need to sit down, and im already sitting. why did they do that tiny pickguard? why is it so badly cut? why didnt they make a bigger pickguard to make it at least look decent rather than the hacking of a 13 year old with expendable funds? who thought that the pickups needed upgrading?

I don't think I can say anything better, nor more appropriate than this.

It's a tremolo plate cover from the back of a Stratocaster.

Yeah, that's what he did, he possibly wanted to try out single coils, or wanted to keep the P90s for another guitar.

So he did a shit job and is selling it, he obviously doesn't like it either, not that unusual. If you buy it you can fix it nicely, only it's not that cheap.

When you press the accelerator past halfway it doesn’t actually go any faster, but the engine noise distorts
