I actually kinda love it just like it is...beat up grunge-y Univox vibe.

If you've gotta change bridge to make it functional though I'd go with a Toronado bridge. About as close to a Duo-Sonic bridge as you're gonna get without spending loads on a vintage one.

In the bridge of my Jaguar right now I have a late 70s "patent number" Gibson pickup and I love it. I've never tried a PAF style or "vintage style" humbucker that comes close to the real thing. But they're pricey.

If you go full size and don't want to spend a ton...DiMarzio Bluesbucker, Duncan '59 ...

Edit: Haha, ^ that. It's never gonna be good for anything heavier than rockabilly type stuff.

Never knew they came in that color. Maybe an early model (which isn't a bad thing). My dad has one we got in 2003, and at that time (and even today) the only colors available were natural and vintage burst ...

I'm going to guess that "red burst" is a poor way to describe what I would assume is a Joe Pass Emperor-II. They're lovely players, and I'd certainly take one in trade if I wanted a hollowbody.

That bridge looks like a Kahler. Even though it looks terrible on that body, they're quality...you could pull it and sell it for ~$150. Also looks like it had a bar for string break angle installed on the headstock at some point, poorly done at that...could maybe use that to talk the price down.

Consensus pretty much everywhere I've seen seems to be that this is just John Mayer's "fuck you Fender". After all, as already mentioned, if someone wanted to drop $2500 on a CBS-era type Strat, why would you get this and not a high-end Fender? I'm a PRS fan and I would never buy one of these. The ...

Looks like it's just 3 guitars a month. IMO, at 699 USD, these already are overpriced...they probably make a sizable profit when one sells. So I'm sure it's not that much of a hit in the grand scheme of things.

Wait what? Weren't you saying that the JS neck is different than Mustang necks of the time?

So the only picture I could find of the heel on the neck on my old one, it's so blurry you can't read the serial number. But what you can see is that it's stamped MG66. I don't know what that means...Googling that doesn't turn up much. But it was a '65-'66 style MIJ Mustang older than 2007.

It's not just one picture, it's a bunch. That's not a 94-95 for a number of reasons:

- 70s style F tuners with the hexagonal buttons instead of round buttons
- Gloss on the headstock is super thick, especially notice the gloss on the rosewood part
- Gloss and tint in general are different. Closer ...

'65 RI Mustangs have been around since at least 1994. Identified by slab body, round white plastic tuning pegs, gold logo (not black), and either fiesta red or oly white (the real kind, not the gross ass yellow white from the 00s). Maybe daphne blue. And if it has the original neck plate it won't ...

I don't get why MIJ, CIJ Fenders are now so much second hand.
There was a time they wasn't seen as "a proper Fender".
They have been for a while now. MIJ / CIJ are no longer sold in the US. That aside, they're often seen as better quality (or perhaps more authentic) than MIM reissues. I don't ...

Filtrons and adonized pickguards lolz

The three pickup one sounds right up my alley though. As does that CAR abomination. "Lacquer finish" intrigues me too. I wonder if the Mustang saddles match the 9.5" radius?

If it's made in Canada, it's most likely G&G. G&G has made cases for Fender for decades, and was founded by former employees of Victoria luggage co., which Fender also used in the 60s. Their website doesn't have much to offer, so you're probably better off just calling and asking if they make a case ...

I don't like small frets. Haven't owned any vintage-spec Fender guitars in years because 7.25" radius and small frets is probably my least favorite combination. Notes tend to fret out easier when bending, and hammer on / pull off doesn't have much sustain.

On the contrary, I also don't like jumbo ...

Aren't the new bullet ones 24.75 scale?

Don't know if it's been determined they were a conversion neck. I'm guessing the distance to bridge might be based on the 24.75 Cyclone. This is a complete guess of course.
That was misinformation when they first got listed online. For whatever reason, all ...
