This is actually pretty exciting. I haven't seen a build thread in ages. Then again, I haven't been looking in the build forum at all lol.

I was seriously considering building a Warmoth Jazzmaster until I found a nice CV JM a few days ago. Maybe I'll build a Jag instead 8)

I've owned a ton of reverb pedals and my current favorite is the Earthquaker Devices Avalanche Run. It's actually a delay and reverb in one, and the reverb section only has two knobs. But it's a really gorgeous sound to my ears. I combine it with the Keeley Realizer for teh shoegazing. If you just w...

£799 for the Champ. Think I’d buy a s/h 68 Princeton reissue instead. 5W at home would be cool, but I’m fine with 15W also. In fact, I’d like to replace my Laney VC15 as it’s fairly unreliable, and the Princeton would be a like for like swap. If I was 100% getting a c...

Nick, I tried running it through an Ampeg-style amp sim today and got a much better result. Quite usable. But that pickup is a noisy fucker... never noticed it in a live setting. I think it's time for a Strat-sized humbucker. I've never soldered before, but I now have my own garage with a work bench...

The Chinese word for "4" and the Chinese word for "death" sound nearly the same. Chinese is the mother language for Japanese and Korean. That's all I know about it. When I lived in Taiwan, I noticed buildings never have a 4th floor... much like how buildings in the west don't hav...

I thought JHS was a known homophobic brand? Like Nick said, I've lumped them in with Dano and Sweetwater. Add Fulltone to the list too. Luckily the OCD sounds awful to my ears.

Yes, I would often keep a Fredric Klone first in chain but never use it. Just liked having that buffer there.

Currently using the TU-3w as my buffer. It's really good too, but a different flavor.

I've had a couple of Timhulio Klones are they are ace. Not so much into Klons these days, but they do have their uses.

How do you record bass guitar?

I've always run my bass instruments DI into the DAW with few problems. Have gotten some nice tones in the past from P-Basses and a Fender acoustic/electric bass. However, I'm struggling to make anything sound good with my Squier Bronco Bass. Maybe it's the strings, maybe it's the pickup. All sounds ...

Nick, I'm recording DI through my pedalboard via an Apogee Jam... into garageband. I've tried using soft sims and not. I'm getting great tones with my Squier Strat using the same setup into a standard GB amp sim. The Bronco just comes out sounding bright, clangy, and ugly. I've tried running it thro...

Nick, I forgot... which pickup did you put in your Bronco bass? I have the red one too... absolutely stock. Sounded good for gigging (back in the before times) but I've been struggling to record with it. Just can't seem to get a good tone with this bass into the DAW. Perhaps I need to start a larger...

I wonder if HNB still has my Vista Jagmaster. It was a nice CAR model. Found it at Sam Ash on Sunset Blvd for $199 back in 2015. They clearly had it confused with one of the newer Chinese models. I think that would be definitely on my "regret I sold it" list :(

Do you need to sign for the package? I've had many guitars and pedals left for me outside the door. However, I've just moved to a new house in a new neighborhood and apparently package thieving is a major issue here.

Awaiting a dezb1 JM demo now... Great thread and made me a bit nostalgic. Some may recall that I made the double score in early 2012, picking up BOTH a VM Jag and Jazzy at Haight-Ashbury Music in San Francisco. Wonderful guitars that I sort of regret selling. I'd like another Squier Jag, but I reall...

Fuck old guitars, get a new one for $400 and wait for it to become SPECIAL and expensive. The only "old" piece of gear I have now is an MIJ HM-2. And I just heard about the Decibelics Angry Swede, so... My 1976 Musicmaster was awesome, but not $1700 awesome. I'd just as soon get one of th...
