I got a Kent Armstrong 'Rebel' pup for £20 on the 'bay, worth a gamble at that price.
The description is a slightly hotter alnico v that keeps the traditional tone.

Still watching those two twisted Tele pups though.

The twisted Tele pup is about £130 over here, I'll keep my eye out for a second hand one though. There's a second hand one on US ebay for $50 + $5 shipping. If the seller won't ship to the UK, there's an entire forum of bros that I'm sure would handle forwarding it to the UK. Thanks mate. I've f...

George - I've seen pickguards available to take a Strat pup, really like the gold anod guard though. Thanks for t...

@ Tim

Rob, as cool as those models are, I want to keep things traditional, the guitar has gold anodized guard on it. I'm not cutting it up for a bigger pickup.

The Telecaster Neck Pickup

I know it's an age old debate and common modification, but I'd like to hear what others have done. I have two Teles, the neck pickup on one sounds great, the other dull and muddy. Considered a treble bleed capacitor but in theory that wouldn't have any effect with the volume up full. Would it? It's ...

The OS-2 is one of my favourite dirt pedals. There's a lot of useable sounds on it and whilst you probably can dial in SD1 and DS1 sounds I think it's a pedal in its own right. I like the settings in between the two effects, which gives more saturation than the SD1 and more clarity than the DS1. I ...

Also, £26 is quite good from Fender. You couldn't build one for that unless you already have some parts lying around.

I was kind of hoping that it would have a toggle for a DC-3 setting (but then again, that's a digital pedal, so that wouldn't make any sense). Here's hoping they do a BF-2w with an HF-2 setting. I have my CE-2w on the CE-1 setting at all times. As for pricing, do UK/European dealers not ever make d...

It’s gonna be priced around the £200+ mark. So that’s me out. There’s a TC copy which looks decent for £50ish. Still love to try one though. Bun that Metalzone nonsense though. It's all bollocks youth. Decent gear but not aimed at the likes of us. Same with the AVRI Fende...

The guy that sold me the DC-3 said it didn't do anything  Haha. It is subtle, unless you crank all the knobs up to full, but it does add a lovely gentle sparkle to everything, especially in stereo. It's one of those pedals that you almost notice more when you turn it off than when you turn it ...

The DC-2 sounds good. I had the old Digital Dimension DC-3 years ago and that was also very subtle and pro sounding. The type of effect you could leave on constantly just to get a more expansive sound. The Ibanez FL9 on low settings is also good for that, it adds warmth and makes the guitar sound bi...

Looks good. This is why I like strats, the design is such that it doesn't need to be anything fancy or even particularly well made. The pickups will make it. The neck has always been key for me. If that's good, the rest is superficial tweaks and upgrades. Telecasters are so basic they win at this, ...

Looks nice. Good score. Funnily enough I've been looking at dirt cheap Strat variants. I stumbled across a video of a guy playing an Encore Strat and it sold the idea that one of those could be sufficient. You can pick them up in the UK for around £20 second hand. Don't mean to hijack your thread...
