Nice as always. If there was a Custom Shop at Squier, you should be running it.

Wow, don't show it to a Japanese person, those are some ancient curse words.

Congrats on both guitars, both are eye candy.

Re: ...so shortscale don't talk about Vintera II?

Vintera series is made in Mexico, if I'm not mistaken, but costs as much or more than Gibson's made in the US Tribute series. And if you count the fact that SGs, Specials and Juniors of the "Standard" line all come with hard cases, they are not that much more expensive than Vintera series ...

Re: WTF Esquire shortbass

Authentic it’s not, but a 10k single coil is its own thing, and sounds very woody and breathy which I love. If I need deeper bass there’s always the Squier 50s P or the HARD PUNCHER. Absolutely. Gibson probably made the most elaborate constructions of the era which doesn't make the pickups the best...

Re: WTF Esquire shortbass

Googling for the construction of the original EB-0 pickup and looking at some of the grumbles about the "mudbucker" there seem to be a lot of alternatives for what lurks in that big cover. It's a hum cancelling construction that Lindy Fralin took and used in his hum cancelling "p90&q...

Re: WTF Esquire shortbass

Nice job fixing the pickup and wiring! I love the bass, to me it looks better than "the real thing". And the body is solid wood too, I was half expecting it to be plywood just the way lots of early Japanese replicas were.

Re: And another: derelict MIJ Mustang

No, it was a fret crowning file back when you could buy it either on Stewmac(expensive shit) or in Japan. The pickup I ordered travelled for months and ended up returning back to Japan(the seller sent me an email).

Re: And another: derelict MIJ Mustang

I once ordered a guitar pickup from Japan, it seemed to have travelled around the world twice before it appeared here. It took months iirc, though I much further from Japan.

Re: Belated NGD: East Coast T1

It looks really nice, congrats! Today's cheap pickups are actually oftentimes quite good, unlike cheap ice picky pickups from 10-15 years ago. I've got one Squier strat and while lust for more never goes away, having less is sometimes a good thing. Nowadays some guitar hobbyists have more guitars th...

Re: WTF Esquire shortbass

£50? That's a steal.

I find it interesting how Japanese manufacturers went from Teiscos to this in just a couple of years, and then from this to almost period correct replicas of everything made in the US in the 50s and 60s. Not saying that Teiscos were bad, I love them, but they were sure different.
