i have two (64 duo-sonic II and a 65 mustang). given a choice i'd opt for a B width these days but i still enjoy the A every now and then.

nah, that's just the very deep LFO i mentioned, you can get really percussive repeats out of it using the triangle wave and it can sound sequenced or arpeggiated if you coincide the note trigger with the pulse and turn up the release and initial level. i wouldn't replace it with a model D, i would g...

Just took delivery of a Yamaha CS5, a fairly simple monosynth from 1978. Been after one for a while and I got this one for a very good price. It has a really cool LFO, goes extremely fast which gives you weird distortion/ring mod sounds. It has a switchable high pass/ band pass/ low pass filter, CV ...

that's a yamaha YS100, i bought it just to see how i'd get on with FM, i thought for £40 i couldn't really go wrong. turns it it's actually a really nice synth, reasonably easy to program and sounds great through an overdrive pedal. cool for horrible nerdy tones.

ah it's not mine, it belongs to one of the other guys in the band. it's nice, but i hate those mini keys, there's just no need for them to be on that synth.

The Alpha Juno? It's nice, I hadn't really explored it properly before getting that controller, as the interface is... not particularly easy to use (for me). It has the same "rubbery" sound as the 106 but some differences- the filter isn't the same, the envelopes are much more tweakable an...

well, this was taken a few months ago when i got the music room in our new house more or less together (click to enlarge): http://bestnetworx.com/uploader/files/128/IMG_6395-b.jpg it's not massively different just now (apart from being more of a mess) but i've added some bits and bobs, mainly a Rola...

i've got a bad monkey, and had it on my board for a while years ago as an 'always on' type base tone. then i A/B'd it with the v1 danelectro transparent overdrive which pissed all over it, haven't used the BM since.

here's a quick phone vid (for chris's benefit, mainly) showing the SQ-1 controlling the MS20 and 10 simultaneously via CV (i didn't do much fiddling with the sequencing as i was trying to hold the phone steady) it has gate on/off which tells it which notes to play, so if you turn any off it just mis...

I’m tempted to buy a new synth atm. Also, how do you find the SQ1? oops, didn't see this, sorry! i find it really useful, although it's by no means as flexible as a beatstep pro or anything. it's really handy for coming up with random-ish patterns and, dare i say, just having fun without dro...

(This also cost about the same as a 2nd hand MS20 mini, although they tend to go for 450-500 on ebay)
