I have never been a big fan of the sm57, but somehow they became a standard and i use them just about every sound gig because they are there. It's worth it to put in the practice to get some usable sounds from them. Also, another tip is you shouldn't have to use hardly any eq if you are doing it rig...

i had a nomad 55. terrible amp, terrible resale I second this. I tried everything I could to get a good sound out of it and it fucking sucked. Used a Triple Rec on a metal project and couldn't get it to do what I wanted. Supposedly the Dual Recs are more regarded as far as getting a usable tone goe...

The argument I heard against them was that as well as being unreliable, they are difficult or not economically viable to fix. I suspect this might just be snobbery and preference for having everything point to point. I know dick-all about fixing amps but I don't really see how one circuit-boardy am...

I've used the 333XL on a metal album, a punk album, and some southern rock stuff. it's basically a Peavey JSX, which by nature has this weird mid thing going on, but it works out pretty cool in a band situation - i prefer straight up 5150/6505 for metal/hardcore stuff. The 333XL clean channel is rea...

It is a channel strip with a gate, comp, eq, pitch shift and delay, which can be handy for tracking. You get it free before the 8th. Here is a copy of instructions i wrote up from another form after folks expressed frustration about the process. Direct link to Eventide UltraChannel page: http://even...

nah, lots of 4x12s and stuff are rear-loaded and the speakers screw in from the back.
