That bridge looks like a Kahler. Even though it looks terrible on that body, they're quality...you could pull it and sell it for ~$150. Also looks like it had a bar for string break angle installed on the headstock at some point, poorly done at that...could maybe use that to talk the price down.

So the only picture I could find of the heel on the neck on my old one, it's so blurry you can't read the serial number. But what you can see is that it's stamped MG66. I don't know what that means...Googling that doesn't turn up much. But it was a '65-'66 style MIJ Mustang older than 2007.

I've never tried, but I would think that the bigger problem would be the nut not being cut for strings that fat, as well as the relatively narrow neck width.

I don't think all MIM models have QC problems, I had only read that the new offsets do. The ones I've played in Guitar Center weren't terrible, but some had sharp fret ends and scratchy pots.
