Rapier Guitars, ie: Alan Entwistle is at it again.

So, Burns is still out for the count since its purchase by Andertons guitars. They've said that it is coming back SOON (SOOOOOOOOON!) but there appears to be no real word on that at this point. So, in the meantime.... A little bit of background; the designer of these guitars is Alan Entwistle, who w...

Re: New Behringer synths

So, the Behringer Edge, missing in action since it was announced...3 years ago???? Well, it has finally started finding its way into peoples hands. Well, nearly: edgy1.jpg edgy2.jpg edgy3.jpg Anyway, the wait is nearly, nearly, NEARLY over. Hurrah! etc. And now comes.... The Behringer Subharmonic-.....

Sonicware Liven Texture Lab

So.... Have Liven just effectively packed a Hologram Electronics Microcosm into a near-Volca-sized box along with a sampler, turning it into an actual synthesizer? Because I am ALL IN ON THIS SHIT.

Microkorg crystal

What I find fascinating with the microkorg is that, apart from the one that came with built in speakers and an additional two sound banks, the core offering hasn't changed at all for two (technically more, since the guys are simply an MS2000) decades. Anyway, here's the new colour scheme: PRISONKORG...

Re: EHX Lizard Queen - First impressions

Jasmine keeps calling it the Lizard Queef because of the font.

Which actually kind of makes me want it.

Re: New Behringer synths

Apparently they've announced that their prices will be dropping anywhere between 10-60%(!!) on their synth range since the chip shortage has apparently eased off now. Fucking mindblowing if true... Which synths are gonna drop by 60%??? I had noticed that the prices for the much cheaper synths like t...

Re: Josh Scott's pedal collection

That Digitech series was trying to recapture the magic of the old weird DOD pedals as I recall? Some of them were actually direct reissues? And they were all perfectly worthy back then. As worthy as any Boss pedal, anyway, surely? The reaction to this is pretty fucking nuts. And it's not Josh's faul...

Re: Custom pickguards, UK?

Yeah, bevelling is probably one of the most tedious bits. You definitely get better at it with practice, though. The Jazzy pickguard I did for the filtertrons was infinitely better than the ones I'd done for the teardrop. I used a blunt metal scraper tool and just made sure I dragged toward myself i...

Re: Custom pickguards, UK?

I've taken to using regular styrene/abs plastic sheet materials to cut my own 'guards recently. I've done it "properly" a bunch of times, using a table router and an already laminated 3-ply sheet of pickguard material but out of maybe five attempts, only two were not a disaster, and the ti...

Re: Fender Goldfoils WHAT WHAT WHAAAAAAT

Now that it has been pointed out to me that there isn't a Jaguar model in the range (that we know of, yet) that feels like a slightly glaring omission. Surely the shortscale switch-laden Jag is more suited to the goldfoil treatment? And yeah, the Jazzmaster is effectively mainstream at this point. H...

Re: Fender Goldfoils WHAT WHAT WHAAAAAAT

Nah, not into it. Also, wrong forum. These aren’t short scales. You're right, I mistakenly thought the first pic was of a similarly equipped Jazzmaster AND Jag, started writing the post, then saw the pics of the rest of the guitars and... I'll admit it, I just got lazy and carried on. But it's only...

Fender jumping on that goldfoil bandwagon, but.... I kinda love 'em. Even the basses.

Re: Wiring LEDs

Yeah, that's good advice. I really wasn't properly prepared for any of this though, I was just being really impatient. One of the other things is that I'd let my brother borrow my soldering iron a while back and he swapped the tip out for some sort of gigantic, thick-ass stabilo boss tip which REALL...

Re: Wiring LEDs

So I wired up the LED. Initially, I'd just snipped the existing LED off and stripped the ends of the wires for the new one. As I was soldering the second wire, the positive wire snapped at the solder joint on the PCB.... I was NOT equipped to do a desolder job so I did what anyone in my position wou...

Re: Wiring LEDs

I bought a bunch of LEDs that said they were already "diffuse" so if it does end up blindingly overpowered, hopefully the diffuse nature of the bulb will temper it a little. I mean, I've made mistakes with things like this before, so I'm also entirely prepared to have to avoid ever standin...

Re: Wiring LEDs

Also, I've just read that different coloured LEDs require different resistors in the chain... I'm replacing a red LED with a blue LED, which apparently has a higher resistance. Is this something that the underlying circuitry of the POG will just deal with? Will the LED circuit be a parallel circuit ...

Re: Wiring LEDs

Oh it does look like it. Fucking eagle eyes, just couldn't make that out in real life at all. Thanks Paul.

Well, I just need to dig out my shrink wrap tubing and then I'll solder it up and try switching it on.

Re: Wiring LEDs

Tried to take pics of the solder points in case there are clues I'm not seeing.

I'm probably going to guess that the red is positive. How likely am I going to blow the pedal up if I'm wrong?
