I'm thinking of investing in a drum machine, something interesting, second hand and fun. I was almost sold on an Electribe ER but spent yesterday doing some digging in the direction of other Electribes, a Roland R8/5 and maybe a Yamaha DX200?

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts/advice?

I would advise patience. It's some years (7?) since I picked up a second 1936 for my rig but I only paid £100 for it and having kept half an eye on eBay since see them go for £100-150 every so often.
