Yup. Not easy for me to have someone else do stuff, but in this case I think it's for the best!!!

Burst is definitely the most challenging, glad you outsourced it so you don't have to stress about it

if i could, i would like to suggest an "easier" way to do sunburst. stain the wood yellow, mix up some dark brown in a preval sprayer can. and use the brown in light layers around the outside. you won't get the red of a normal sunburst, but it will produce a night tabbaco sunburst and its...

Call me boring, but the ONE color I know I'll never regret is a fresh 3TS. Can't go wrong putting it right, right!? All that work for a sunburst? There's a whole range of awesome out there just waiting to be picked. You're talking to a guy who DIY'd Shell Pink nitro on a pre-CBS Duo, then kin...

SO, I probably should've waited for the body to dry all the way before snapping more pix, BUT I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Down to the wood on all the parts that was ugly, managed to preserve all the 3TS that I set out to, etc. Pretty massive PITA. Used 2 cans of Airspray remover + plast...

Ah well. Lots of great suggestions, but in the end I don't think there was much/anything to save. I seems that whoever applied the good removed as much 3TS as the could get to w/o removing the control plates & guard. You can actually kind of see this in the pix - all the yellow areas are where t...

'64 Jag - REFIN HELP NEEDED!!!

Just snagged the world's ugliest 1964 Jaguar @ a local Pawn Shop. VERY excited about everything except the crazy faux terrazzo finish! I've done a ReRanch nitro refinish on my Duo Sonic (which had to be sold to snag this one, sniff-sniff. . .), and I'm plenty familiar with chemically stripping/remov...

(even more disclosure - were it not for drasp's generosity and keen eye, Lorez would still be glumly playing his mate's strat copy and scouring eBay for hottt guitars). I need to extend a big hand of gratitude to drasp, thank you very much indeed. Hey - if I couldn't have it, glad to see so...

Alright, I'm a very weak man. I sprayed the clear way back when I last posted to this thread. All seemed great. ReRanch 101 suggests 4days to cure before finish sanding & polishing. I gave it like 10days IIRC, but it got all shitty & this weird sort of texture/orange peel. SUCK_ASS. Well, al...

Well, I've got my ReRanch sand & seal, and I've got my ReRanch Shell Pink, but what I DO NOT have is the time or place to do this right. Any re-fin wizards here? I'm not excited about shipping the body away, but I really want to get back to playing this thing. . . :(

UPDATE: I've been playing it for the last ~6mos. and REALLY love this guitar. It was a hard decision to come to, but I finally decided to strip off the pink/purple & refinish it in ReRanch Shell Pink. I love Shell Pink, plus I think with the rosewood neck & darkened brown p'up covers, it wil...
