Me neither, but I've always used very light sets. I see that these days a lot of (most?) third-party cast/wrap-around bridges are compensated for a plain G.

I love my old Guyatone-made Kent Polaris I, obviously not as cool as yours. Good luck with the resto!
Possibly the bridge is designed to be the other way round with a wound G?

Re: 20 watt valve combo for home/live use.

In my opinion, yes. I use a 1 x 12 combo (JTM60) , which has a clean and a dirty channel. The dirty channel has plenty of gain, but I mostly use the clean channel and pedals. An open-backed combo will sound different to an amp and cabinet, obviously - I'd expect less bass, but you can play with the ...

I think it would be cool if in the corner of one of these GPUs that I understand Mike helps to design there's a little "MBM" logo etched into the silicon.

“That's what Jagulars always do," said Pooh, much interested. "They call 'Help! Help!' and then when you look up, they drop on you."

Re: Vintage Japanese Tele bass

Well, it's passed to a new owner, Miles, who I would guess is in his 20s and currently owns a Mustang bass. It's been interesting to work on it but I felt obliged to sell it for a fair market price on behalf of our friend; she told us to go out for a meal on the proceeds, which we won't, so I think ...

Re: Question about an Amp/Spring Tank

I have built a reverb unit in the past, even etched my own PCB.

From the label on the tank it looks like it's a 600 ohm drive coil, 8.2k pickup, pretty standard for Fender designs. The circuitry to drive it is probably the same as the Fender amps of that kind; see http://po-ru.com/2023/03/24 ...

Things to do with Chocolate

I've actually had some real-life experience with the M-Vave/Cuvave Chocolate MIDI controller. One of the options in the configuration app is to select between configuring the 1/4" jack for an expression pedal input or as a TRS MIDI output. So I made up a TRS-to-DIN cable out of an old 3.5mm stereo ...
