Re: RME Fireface 800 or Mackie Onyx 1640 w/Firewire???

...and I think I've narrowed it down to the RME Fireface 800 and the Mackie Onyx 1640 w/ Firewire . They seem to be comparable feature-wise, and cost roughly the same. Which would y'all go with and why? Or, something else in the same range? To me, if you've narrowed it down to these two pieces of g...

the view from a 3rd story balcony, through chicken wire, from a jewish building overlooking the worst part of the valley turns you on? Yea...whatever.LOLZ! Yeah - it has nothing to do with the actual view. It's just knowing that it's in California, that makes me wanna move there. Cuz I'm SICK of NY...

Actually, I think all I have to do now is make the pickguard and ship it. fretman, is that right? That sounds right. I'll update the thread with pics as she progresses. And, yes...a ToM in the standard bridge position will intonate fine. Man! Youse guys have little faith in me...it's disturbing. :x...

I currently have a Weber 12F150 in my Marshall Studio 15. I don't really like the way it sounds. Too tinty. I ordered a Celestion Vintage 30 to try out innit. If I'm reading it right, that's a Vintage series speaker, with a ceramic magnet? Did you order it especially for that amp, or did you get it...

Fender's probably taking cues from SS, and copping Aug's sh!t!

DGNR8 wrote:SUPER HOT!

What type of tunamatic is that? How big are the holes for the bridge posts (vs. the tailpiece)?
The tailpiece is from an 80's Gibson Melody Maker. The bridge is an Allparts, Nashville style I believe.
Aug will have to tell about the holes.

UPDATE. As with every guitar build, there are issues and anomolies [sp?], so, to make up for them, I installed custom shielding. (don't worry, everything looks great and it will play wonderfully.) Re: well, im in heaven again...

...today i had the opportunity to trade my peavey classic 5 4x10 straight up for a 1972 fender bassman ten in pristine condition. naturally, i stabbed my old standby in the back (sorry peavey) and jumped at the chance. it was a chance id take over and over and over again. thank youuu jesus. Their website doesn't have a single instrument loudspeaker, so if they do have a history of making amp speakers, they're not talkin' about it! There was one model of their home stereo speakers which started getting used alot in recording studios, for mixing. Kinda like the original Yamaha NS10 story...

I don't really "get" Wharfedale or Weber speakers but they're apparently pretty "hifi". I like Classic rock sounding doobries like Celestion G12T-75s and Vintage 30's, also Greenbacks. Eminence sound strange and middy in an odd way to me. Weber are a good company though, they ha...

i don't know how good wharfdales are, but changing the stock speakers in the fender 4x12 cab with celestion vintage 30's made a big difference in quality of sound. sometimes just switching to a better brand can make a difference. Wharfdales make good, inexpensive hi fi speakers. I'm not sure what t...

No, but you generally have to redesign the speaker if you're doing a good job - however some manufacturers make shitty budget speakers with high wattage handling and put them in everything. Like the Celestion Goldback series which is put in budget and low wattage Marshall amps. Aaah. The Webers are...

... wonder why manufacturers would use anything other than high wattage speakers... Cost is a major factor. Interesting. On the Weber site, I think the price is the same regardless of what wattage you pick. That would imply that the higher the wattage, the sweeter the deal (or vice versa), yes?!
