Ha thanks! Um, I honestly have no idea what the difference between an overdive, distortion and fuzz pedal is. Run a Harmonic Perc at low gain and it's a much more interesting overdrive than a Klon or TS. A Dist+ makes a wonderful fuzz pedal when full-on. Some descriptions say the differences lie in ...

Hopefully later this week. My answers were kinda similar to those we've already had. Because MI Pro is more of a trade magazine, it's more about the market in the UK and trade shows. I'd toyed with organising a mini trade-show for UK boutique pedals, or even going to one of those shows with lots of ...

Musical Instrument Pro interviews with UK boutique FX guys

MI Pro are having a 'Boutique Week' which may offer some insight into the UK boutique effects market. They've interviewed various people connected with building and selling the things. Yesterday was David Rainger from Rainger FX: http://www.mi-pro.co.uk/news/read/boutique-week-rainger-fx/020667 http...

Juliana Hatfield is actually good. I went through a phase of listening to all her albums about ten years ago. There are many more than you'd imagine. Total System Failure is very good of the later ones. I think they reformed either Blake Babies or Juliana Hatfield Three recently. Here's a nice live ...

Me too, his demo is excellent. Oh, I forgot one. My purchase of a CP-100 was inspired at least partly by this adorable wee Scottish gentleman: Here's Kim Gordon's Musima Eterna, one of which I owned for a few years. That turned me on to M...

Yep it's a much nicer smell now it's faded a bit. I can only assume this guitar was kept in a case from new and barely used. Can't see why, as it's really fun to play - super light and resonant. I've only tried a vintage '68 in comparison, and this one sounds much brighter. Is this because of the ma...

I can smell your borked mapple and it's triffic

It's like a kind of sweet pipe smoke. Really nice. It was strong when I got the guitar earlier this year (2011 SG Jr) but then I lem oiled the fretboard and the smell faded. Now it's back.

Can anyone else smell baked maple? Is it just me?

Yep these do have a Reverend look to them. I'm reminded of the Sensei. That's not a bad thing though. These guitars look okay, just nothing 'wow' about them.

Testing the production PCBs for the pedals for the Future of the Left pledge campaign. 46 of these sold-out in about a week, which is great. Now to build the things! Everything checks-out okay on this first set of boards, so the next step is to take the plans to the company who will fabricate the en...

I think you'll find there are quite a few good green Russian muffs currently in production.

You're not wrong. You're right.

All these guitars look nice though. Even the headstock. It's rare for a non-Fender 6-in-line headstock to not induce vomiting, but this one keeps the carpet dry.

I've used AKG K240s for several years now and love them. Comfy, just about in your price range, and should be perfect for what you're looking for here. We've got these too. They're great for not much dosh. Other ones we tried tended to womp up the bass and are useless for monitoring and mixing. Goo...

looks like a plague doctor Indeed! Different from Fredric Cloak Audio is smaller runs of more complicated original effects, sold just through dealers. Because there are currently 20 pedals in the Fredric range, I thought it better to branch this one off as it's own thing! If you're in town, Regent ...
