That thing about 2 delay pedals being like the difference between mp3 and vinyl almost made me piss my pants. An effect or bypass colouring or attenuating the sound is one thing, but these guys are taking their very specific guitar/amp combinations and how Strymon's affect it all a little too much ...

Can't say I noticed much difference if any. Certainly not in "my amps suddenly sounded as they'd had new valves and had a blanket removed from the front of the speakers" territory. Not always easy to tell from Youtube videos but sounds a bit like toan twattery on TGP to me... I was expect...

Re: Hardwire VS Digitech Phaser

I went to record some stuff with my Hardwire phaser the other day and it kinda just stopped working. I hadn't used it in a while, first time I turned it on and it was working a bit like a mega square wave tremolo. It's probably a freak thing, but, for what it's worth, that's my experience. Doh! XD ...

can you explain "tone suck" for me? and everyone else? Some phrases used from the original thread on TGP in regards to having Strymon pedals in your signal chain: 1. 'However, once out of the signal chain, my amps suddenly sounded as they'd had new valves and had a blanket removed from th...

Re: Hardwire VS Digitech Phaser

What's the real difference between the Digitech Hyperphase and the Hardwire SP-7 Phaser? They seems identical but the Hardwire SP-7 is exactly twice the price of the Hyperphase on Thomann; are 44€ extra justified? I went to record some stuff with my Hardwire phaser the other day and it kinda just...

STANDARD TIN EARS DISCLAIMER, BUT: I've never noticed anything. You know you can switch from buffered to true bypass, right? I do know that. In fact, I know it so much I did it in the video. You can watch me do it too! It was an experiment based off a rumor. I also said that it was too subtle for m...

Do Strymon pedals suck tone?

Hey guys, This discussion was going around TGP about 'The Strymon Effect', which is a supposed tone suck from these pedals. I've had a Timeline for a while now and never really noticed anything, but I wanted to run a little experiment. I recorded a clip of the Timeline disengaged in both bypass mode...

Hey guys, I finally finished editing and posted my full review of the Hiwatt T40 2x12 combo. So far I'm still really enjoying it, I used it at rehearsal the other day and it really shines when cranked up a bit. The dirt channel starts to lose a little of the muffled quality and gets a little more us...

I really want to like and to own a Hiwatt, but mainly due to matey from Jesus Lizard using one and his sweet semi-distorted toanz. Freethenoise, will/have you played this amp in a band situation yet? Curious to see if 40w will hold up clean at band volumes. My Marshall DSL50 managed to stay pretty ...

A 50 watt head would be more up my alley.
They make a 40 watt head version. I haven't seen one floating around the internet in ages though.

It only ways around 26 KG though, which is perfectly manageable.

jokes aside, here is an interview I did with Casey Prestwood for Shortscale.org with years ago. he talks a bunch about his HIWATT's. http://www.shortscale.org/wiki/index.php?title=Casey_Prestwood_Interview ShortScale: You have been a big supporter of HIWATT amps over the years. Hiwatt T40 combo - probably the worst advertised amp ever

Hiwatt's marketing baffles me sometimes. The T-Series kind of went under a lot of peoples radar. A lot of players turned their nose up because Hiwatt was trying to break into the far-eastern made, lower cost, more practical market and when Hiwatt didn't back the amp up with some decent videos or sou...

Caroline Guitar Company Haymaker Overdrive

Hey guys, I picked this up the other day to help support a few friends of mine who have just opened a super high-end guitar pedal shop. I'm very nicely surprised with what this pedal can do, loads of bass on tap, but still with plenty of definition. Pricey as all get out though. [youtube]http://www....

First rehearsal since our last decent gig, back on a Pedaltrain, got it neater than I ever have before.

MJM London Fuzz II Review and Demo

Hey guys, I've fucked around with a LOT of Fuzz Faces trying to get one that I thought was properly useful to the way I play. I'd always gone for germy fuzz faces, based on the fact that I prefer lower gain tones generally. This MJM proved that I'm in with the silicon crowd. [youtube]http://www.yout...

Traditionally you just get a small amp and crank. But good video and nice playing. For some reason I liked the Boss the least, I thought it sounded too heavy and produced for blues, maybe better for hard rock or something. That's actually why I bought the Ghetto Stomp. The only small amps I own are...

nice demo. boss sounds best in my opinion. i'd also recommend sticking a klon type drive in front of it to boost it. it's amazing for slide guitar. Hmm, that's interesting. I might have to give that a go with the Klon-esque mode on the Gain Changer and see what comes of it. Sounds like a pedal budd...
