After seeing the short scale Jaguar type bass on Rondo, I'm contemplating using that for a base bass instead. Any idea what stock jazz bass pickups would sound like on a Bass VI, at least to start?

Sweet, thanks! That certainly helps narrow down my bridge choices. Research shows that the original Bass VI had a 2 1/8" string spread, and I note a few bridges on StewMac that meet that spec, and even a couple that are 2 1/4"! I've got some decisions to make, but I don't even have the bas...

As far as the LaBellas and a Strat trem go, IIRC you'd need to modify the bridge somewhat to accommodate the strings, boring holes to a larger diameter.
