I'm relatively new to electric guitars and close to no-tech by nature. Had my old Mustang two years now and never even noticed this screw. so let me see if I got it right... That little screw on the end of the chrome tube is supposed to tighten down against the end of the trem arm, after the end of ...

Scooping...

Many of you are very experienced musicians and are way familiar with this tone technique, but for those who have not tried scooping... To get a gutsy blues-rock tone, I usually use my bridge pickup and set the guitar's volume and tone all the way up. I intuitively set my amp at: Gain 7 Treble 10 Mid...

Thanks for the posts. Thanks, Mickie, bet you're right on that...someone rounded the number. Since my last post,. I bought two BluesHawks. An Ebony and a Cherry. Took me a few hours to get used to the more narrow neck...especially playing lead...but the necks are fine and these are solid guitars. Next, a Chicago Blue on...

I have a nighthawk that uses the same neck. I personally don't find it too narrow, I actually like everything about it except the longer scale length. I got inconsistent info from two websites. You might could resolve this. One says the Blueshawk/Nighthawk neck is 1 5/8" at the nut; another si...

Shortscale necks vs. Blueshawk neck

I've gotten used to shortscale necks by makin a Mustang and a Duo-Sonic my main players over the past two years. I'm thinking of getting a Gibson Blueshawk so I can stretch out a bit on the fretboard...of course I like the tonal options also. I understand the Blueshawk neck is full scale length but...

Whew, that's hideous...  :x

I'm not a devotee, but still, please don't tell me Cobain really had an axe painted like this.

Not sure about this particular reissue. But the Les Paul Jr. Special with two P90s in TV Yellow is my Holy Grail. Originals are like priceless so I'd go for this with a hardshell case for $800. But that's just my particular lust. A risk always is...you won't have played it so you may have to have it...

This musician and his $4000.00 signature Les Paul are taking quite a beating. I just gotta jump in here and point out that there's no other guitar I know of that is so advanced that it too has star decals on the neck so you can see where your left hand is on the neck in a darkened room.

Ultra, your RI '65 Mustang has a lot going for it and you can emphasize its strong points when you put it up for sale... Point out that as a '65 reissue yours has the original Mustang design. The slab body has the true vintage vibe compared to the more modern '69 body. Many potential buyers won't kn...

I haven't played one and they're not well-known, but the reissue Harmony Stratotone is highly recommended by: Charlie Musselwhite Luther Tucker John Hammond Tom Waits Smokey Hormel Marc Ribot A set neck, Kluson tuners. I believe it's 22.5". See the December 2010 issue of Vintage Guitar Magazine...

Plaid, when I posted my suggestion I thought they'd done a sort of bait & switch on you.

Glad it turns out you like what you got!

Wow, sort of a shocker here. Just got the Duo-Sonic in and from the picture on the GC used gear site, the pickguard wasn't at a position to make any sort of reflection, so I thought that was just the angle of the shot. No, it arrived with a black pickguard instead of the gold pickguard! And the tun...

Stratonuclear, I just bought a used CV Duo-Sonic and am very pleased. It was in true mint condition and with a gig bag it came to $229.00 USD. I played it several times before I bought it and was instantly impressed with the pickups and the neck...set up was perfect for me. The tech measured the int...
