also they may have been out of Coro decals that day and used something else.. and clipped off the other model's name. and more likely, this could be an early Coronado or prototype- apparently Fender initially wanted to call the new guitar the Aztec, but then changed to the Coronado. Once in a while,...

i think the chrome pickups were from launch in 66 to sometime in 1967. in 67 you start seeing the black pups and fender launched the Wildwoods. I've only ever seen Wwood with the black pups.

James, i've followed Coro's for years but i think you've got a good point- i've always seen the checkered binding with chrome pups, but Fender may have still had bodies in stock with the checker binding when they had migrated to the new pups. this photo is testament, though he may still have an earl...

The checkered binding was an option in the early coronados. They always have Chrome pickups as it was only available early. I've read that it was Rickenbacker who did the special binding for Fender. IIRC i even saw a photo of a checker bound Coro with a Rickenbacker shipping box! I have a checkered ...

My Partsonado with Rickenbacker checkered binding: I bought the body and then every piece one by one after that. Ripped the legs off a mustang bridge and it fit right onto the original Coro bridge feet! :) The jazzmaster neck came off of it and i am reworking a USACG neck with a Coro headstock. The ...

!!?? they are sold 'as-is'. they need new strings, a set-up, some fret work, one has a BAD pickup? jeez, i expect more from a reseller. i thought THEY set up guitars they sold, rather than just flip them and send them to impatient consumers with sharp tools.... ... they need to be "CLEANED up&q...

thanks!
USACG made me a paddle neck for it- this guitar will have a coro style neck on it. with a 7.25-9.5" radius. malagasy on maple.
I love Trane. and Bags. Lady Day. The Duke. And Django, obviously. All of them.

I like mine....
$200 for the body, $40 bridge, $60 tailpiece, cheap pups that have to be rewound, etc. A Musikraft jazzmaster neck in the meantime.

She sounds real purty too!
