I guess is no longer so, but rather Thom's Bassman
Took the trip up to James' this morning to pick this beauty up...for those of you who haven't seen it before, a few pics below (from James - will take some myself of it set up here soon).
Those of you who have played it will know how great it sounds, I put it through its paces today and had a really big grin on my face. Think this might seal the deal on me selling the Marshall.
Thanks to James for wanting to move to America and for being a total gent throughout!

Aye, lovely.
Thom, even when you make it big, and you're doing interviews for guitar magazines, you still have to call it James' Bassman when they ask for details. _________________

It really is class. We had it running with both channels on full and you could hear that classic marshall element. It's gutting to sell it but I'm happy that as I have to it's gone to a good home.
It's the best amp I've ever heard and superb with pedals. _________________ Shabba. |

That bassman sounded amazing at doogfest II. Just plugging straight in, was just such a nice sound. Gutted your not gonna be at progfest to bring this down thom. I bet that and the formula 5 is a great combo. _________________ Fingers or Pick?

Yeah I'm gutted too.
I fired up the formula 5 this morning with it and it does indeed sound lush! |

How does it sound with the Orange compared to that Torres cab? _________________ Shabba. |

I think that it sounds bassier, I think that's probably down to the 12" speakers rather than 10".
I haven't really cranked it yet as Amelie has been in the house so a bit difficult to tell.
The Orange is 2 x V30s and from what I have heard so far seem to work well with the Bassman. |

Felt I should add an update here as I have just been playing through the Bassman.
In fact I've played through it every single day since I got it, other than being on holiday or away for work.
It is such a great amp. The Jag and Strat sound amazing through it, it really loves single coils.
And with Humbuckers, flip the bright switch up and you are in heaven!
The Vintage 30 speakers go really well with it too.
On top of that have pretty much not switched off the Catalinbread Formula No. 5 since I got it. The combination is just glorious |

It looks fantastic. I followed the threads for the transfer, but what year is it again? I can't remember, and searching available channels does not help. If memory serves, it's a '64, which only means great things for you. _________________ REMI GREENE | BRIGHT NIGHTS | UNOBSERVABLE UNIVERSE | ROOTS AND RUINS
