Been researching upright basses and can't find one for under $750. Is there such thing as a cheapo upright bass or is that considered budget?

Thomann have got some cheaper ones. Not sure what shipping would be like to the US though.

Look for used ones, upright basses are tricky as the manufacturing of them is a lot more expensive. If you get lucky in the secondhand market you should be able to find something, my friend just bought one for around 300 and its pretty nice but it took a fair bit of setup work and a new set of strings (which are really really expensive).

Oh okay. Gonna check them out and be on the lookout in the used market. I wouldn't mind getting one that works for under 700 and then spending like 2/300 to get it working through an amp. Figured that the construction is gonna make em more expensive.

I really love the look of having on of them in the mix. And they sound so cool.

You should be able to find a used one for about $500usd if you are patient. If you are using it live, no need to spend the big bucks cause it will get fuckin' trashed anyway.

Yeah we're not looking for a collector piece. It's definitely going to get trashed. Lol

Great thrad opportunity to post some Esperanza playing some Stevie Very Happy

Man I love this woman...she's also the reason I dared to try upright bass in my later years and gave up in a huge fluff of disappointment.
