I bought a couple of these for a cheap beater guitar I got that I wanted to experiment on.
I can't testify to their authenticity as I haven't played any original Goldfoils, but they sound very clear and jangly to me, a little like Strat pickups.

Cool, I think a couple of people on here were interested in these.

Sound a bit like cheap Japanese pickups. Could be interesting in a hollow body too.

I got the ferrite model ones.
They were on sale at the time.

Would be interested to hear a totally clean demo; that little fat-sounding tube amp is sure as hell adding a lot of 'character' there.

I'll knock together a couple of sound clips for you next week when I'm not getting hammered by assessment.

I'll do a proper demo with black jack, and hookers.

I'm considering these for my Silvertone (worth a bash, can always chuck 'em in another guitar), so still lookin' forward to that clean demo Wink

Even if it's literally a few chords on an iPhone camera or something.

Anecdotally, and this is based purely on experience of GFS lipsticks and their mini humbuckers (their Strat pickups sound fine to me). I you want to know what a goldfoil actually sounds like then get a LOLlar or some other well-known maker. Cos I can't believe any of the baloney on the GFS site.

To be very honest, a lot of it is the look for me. An interesting singlecoil that doesn't cost much is never a bad thing, I'm not trying to recreate anything.

The Creamery have started making gold foil pickups according to their Instagram page. They look amazing and based on their other pickups should sound great and not be too expensive.

These fellas? http://www.mojopickups.co.uk/gold_foils.php

I was actually scoping those out, kinda spendy for the guitar I'm putting it in. How was it in the bridge position?

Aye, although I got some smaller wire on the cover rather than the larger honeycomb. The bridge was a bit bright for my liking but I very rarely use any bridge pickup I'm all about the neck tonez. Mark the guy who makes them is very helpful and pretty much makes them to the spec you ask for.
