Fender is making Gibson's stupid robot tuners looking brilliant by comparison to their 2015 offerings so far.

The state of guitar companies in 2015 is that we have to argue which is the least shit

Quite sad isn't it.
I put it down to the fact we've all been around the block a few times and finally got bored with the products.
I want to see something new, something different. But that's expected after owning half dozen of each model over 25 years.

Shortscale NAMM highlights:

Ibanez wows with new Talman Basses. Especially the green one.

That's about it.

Well, the Prophet 6 is pretty nice, but, with a price in MiniMoog territory, not sure it's anything to write home about neither, I suppose.
I was so excited by it until I got an inkling of its price.

I'd argue that Burns are still great but they haven't really come out with any major new models for a decade.

But maybe if you all bought more of them they'd make more stuff.

That's right, I'm blaming you guys for all the shit guitars.

Well, they have the humbucker Jazzmasters, the silver one looks very Gibson.

The Shortboard Mustang is the same price as the Flying V with bound fingerboard, but it doesn't make sense to compare the two brands, Fender is much cheaper and made in many countries.

But you know Epiphone just released their version of the Gibson Blueshawk. And they even released a Les Paul Artisan not too long ago, even though it's a signature (or double signature, if you like) model. Kind of cool they did that.

This NAMM has been a complete embarrassment for Fender.

Am i the only one who actually thinks the "shortboard mustang" is super rad? Embarassed I love the mutang shape, i am not really into trems and i love p-90's. Very Happy i think those wooden racing stripes look good, too. For me it is kinda a new entry into the shortscale guitar range... If they made only sonic blue 1966 RI mustangs and 1969 comp jap RI, everyones mustang would be the same. Very Happy Tbh i really dig those wooden aestethics with no extra parts except bridge, pickups and knobs.

Did they actually discontinue the Chinese Cowpoke Tele, the one with the Bigsby?

I haven't seen it anywhere, and my local version of both the Fender and Squier sites don't show it, but the one with the two Chinatrons is available.

I don't use the trem and I like P90s too, so I guess I should like it. I don't really remember what it looks like.

I can tell you that I do like shortbread though. Very tasty.

Honestly I'd prefer another Musicmaster over a shortbread Mustang. Musicmasters are really rad.

I like the P90s and hard tail, but it's really expensive.

Fender pricing seems to have become really inconsistent again.

When you make a slightly off-beat variation of a vintage model I'd be expecting the price to be a bit lower, particularly if it lacks a fair bit of the hardware of the original. But it seems that they're slapping a premium on these types of models again. Disappointing.
