I love the headstock on Swingers. I wish they'd make another guitar with it on, or make some Squier quasi-reissue Swinger.

You say '80s, but that reminds me of the '70s Burns Flyte

Yes it is at about 2:20 when they go down to the basement to play. The famous riff from that song is played on the Swinger.

On the live version too

Yesterday I submitted these photos and information about my guitar to Gruhns for an online appraisal

Today,I got the appraisal by email and it included this information :

"The guitar described below is, in our opinion, a Fender Musiclander model made in the year 1969.This model is also known as the Arrow and the Swinger. They were not featured in any Fender catalogs and were produced in limited numbers from 1969 to 1972 using modified spare parts left over from other models. They feature Musicmaster electronics, Mustang neck with 24-inch scale and re-shaped peghead, and generally have neck dates from 1966 through 1968. The model was introduced in 1969 discontinued in 1972. This model features a Fender decal and no model name on the peghead, and the body shape is scooped out by the strap button. This particular example appears to be in very fine condition and features red body finish and original hard shell case."

I called them and and said "I found 2 errors in your appraisal"

1.) The scale length is 22.5"

2.) the color is Candy Apple Red

They told me the 24" was a typo and they would get back to me on the color.

Below is a "Red" Fender Musiclander.

Can you see the difference between these two color in these photos?

Nope:

Hidden:

A friend of mine had this guitar in high school and now has it tattooed on his arm (coming out of some flames).

Yes your guitar is Candy Apple Red. In Gruhn's defense, all they stated was that the guitar was red, which is correct.
However IMO, they should have been more specific in calling out the color (Candy Apple Red or Dakota Red). That is funny you had
to call them out on getting the scale wrong.

Thanks, I just wanted to see if you guys could tell it was Candy Apple Red from the photos I submitted. Concerning the scale length,The guy I talked to said "Of course, that was a typo" as to the color,he only said he would pass on the information I gave him. I haven't heard back yet. Red is a pretty vague term.
