Natural satin or lightly-stained black satin, matte black pickguard, Kahler and EMGs. HELLS YES THE 80's.
Edit: except for the pastel. No pastel on my guitars thankyou.

Black stained Korina, black pickguard... ruthenium (?!) hardware, vintage tint satin neck... it's coming together. It's all coming together. Also I hope the pickguard with a custom bridge cut will help integrate the Kahler into the look.
That and a shredder headstock. |

Word.
Hypothetical bells and whistles are getting added every time I access the internet. For instance,
Ebony racing stripe? Ffffffuck yes. Since I'm going to be routing the shit out of this guitar (and have a proper router to do so, none of this dremel shit,) I might as well go whole hog. Though I'd be covering most of it up with a pickguard, so maybe not.
Also note the recessed straplok.

Cool thread, nice to see something different. One thing about Kahlers, you dont have to route the shit out of the guitar. _________________

Gonna be an eighties/aughties hybrid. Solid "Black Kornia" (with an ebony racing stripe if I can swing it), tung oil / nitro finish (if I have my druthers), and maybe, MAYBE, a solid ebony neck (or ebony with an ebony fretboard (if at all possible)).
I hate flame maple, and most any figured maple tops. Bleh.
Edit: Also, I can't find any solid reference to Korina's toxicity. Some message board rumors, some message board questions. Warmoth's site lists only Cocobolo as toxic, and several woodworking hobby sites make no mention of Korina toxicity.
Also edit: Wood Toxicity Information from WoodWorkersSource.com has a good rundown, and a toxicity table (at the bottom) that doesn't mention limba at all. Though it does mention ebony and several other tonewoods. |

Dunlop do one. I can't stand strap locks that stick out and was looking for better options... think it's this, the flush mount option:
http://www.jimdunlop.com/index.php?page=products/pip&id=140
Oddly they don't show the locking mechanism there so look here:
http://www.banzaieffects.com/Dunlop-Straplok-Flush-Mount-nickel-pr-14984.html
That being said I still doubt I'd like the feel of the metal grinding away everytime I move the strap. _________________ RESPECT THE COCK

GENTLEMEN (and ladies), BEHOLD!
No racing stripe, all ebony neck:
No racing stripe, vintage tint maple neck (w/ ebony board):
Ebony racing stripe, all ebony neck:
Ebony racing stripe, vintage tint maple neck (w/ ebony board):
I'm thinking the maple is the way to go. All-ebony would only work with the racing stripe. The hardware is theoretically ruthenium or black nickel or whatever the midway thing is between black and chrome. Thoughts?
Edit: darkened the ebony, trimmed the racing stripes.
