I'm in need of a few effects to round out my pedal board:
  • chorus
  • phase
  • trem/vibrato

I think I'll get a used cool cat (the old beefy one] for the chorus, but I'm willing to hear what others have successfully with on all of it.

Thanks, dudes!

Chorus - I really like these. Old Ibanez CS-9's are good as well. They colour your guitar sound in a really pleasing way. Very full and warm sounding.

Tremolo - Demo by that guy who used to post here.... Has an internal trimpot for the volume iirc.

.

Phase- Really liked the one I tried. Preferred it over the Small Stone.

Mooer all the way baby - lots of love for the Trelicopter, and I really rated the Orange 90 I had.

Depends how much you're wanting to spend though; I loved my EHX Pulsar, my phaser of choice (lately) is my Phase 45, but that's a really subtle phaser.

But mainly: Mooer.

I really like the Boss CE5 (analogue>digital) over the CE2 (I think the Dano Cool Cat Chorus is a CE2 clone), not as warm but seems to work better with dirt and does a nice pseudo vibrato sound with the speed up and depth down.

Dano cool cat chorus is excellent, has a blend knob for just the right amount of effect. Don't use phase or trem

i dig how tiny those mooer pedals are, and the price ain't bad either. i'll have to assemble this all and post pics of the results.

i may end up into other realms at some point, but so far what i am after are boost, crunch, heavy drive, phase, chorus, and trem. i already have the first three (moollon, electro harmonix, ocd), so now it's just finding the other bits.

Line 6 M5?

I'm still not sure why everyone doesn't one one of these.

A NuX Modcore can do all of the usual modulation things for very little money. It's not the same as having dedicated boxes for each type, but if you're short on cash and/or pedalboard space it's a good buy.

I was toying with the idea of an M5 at one point, but all the usual places suddenly stopped stocking them. They're back on sale now though, for even less than before.

i might eventually end up in an mfxp since they have come a long way since my days with a digitech rp7 and boss gt6. i'm just trying to see what i come with by just augmenting the small (tiny) collection i had accumulated over the years.

I had one and it was great (while it was working), kept cutting out stone dead no signal, had to pull the plug out n in then it'd work again for a hour or so then same again. Still miss the reverbs it had good reverbs.

They're not available for anything like sensible money on Amazon but they seem to be on sale for 72 everywhere else.

I've had the M9 for 5 years with no problems, so hopefully your experience was rare. I'm thinking of picking up an M5 one day, for my downsized pedalboard was there's a few very specific delay sounds I need from the M9.

i'd be more inclined toward the m9 for more easily programmable/accessible tap dancing. when it comes to whatever i put on the floor, i'm usually an "all or nothing" dude. so it will be a 100% stomp box or processor.

Zoom MS-70CDR. It goes for around $120 new.

You have almost any modulation effect you could want and it sounds as good at doing that as my M9 did. Plus, you also have reverb and delay. You can actually program sounds consisting of multiple effects, too. And it's the size of a single Boss pedal.

For real, I was a doubter but multi fx are sweet now. The line 6 ones and new boss multi fx pedals are all worth checking out.

The Nux Modcore is a really cool little pedal. Super cheap but sounds much better than you'd expect.

I did a demo of it recently:

the ac30 won't be here until friday, but i had a chance to connect what i have to the pro junior last night after i had done some clean up on the board. man, i am really digging the tones and can't wait to crank it up at thursday's rehearsal!

i think i will start with the chorus and phase pedals and then decide what to add after that. i am thinking a mooer and a nux. so far, i have kept all my boxes diverse, so the board should look interesting if nothing else.

It's a great pedal. I sold mine to benecol purely because I had a script MXR already.
