Those look like fake Chinese EMGs. Are they passive or active?

There's no batter compartment to be seen so I take it they're passive, very loud though. I'm sure the sales card had emg model numbers written on it I think I'll email the shop n ask, as I know nowt about emg's n the like.

Open the control cavity, there could be a battery in there.

If there is no battery 100% sure they are fake EMGs, passive EMGs do not look like that, they are visually copies of older active EMGs. Those are really bright pickups too (the fake ones, never had the real ones).

Also, if you take the pickups out, the fakes just have fixed leads on the back of the pickup, while the real ones have solderless fork connectors.

They could be an older set if it doesn't have that quick connect / solderless system. That wasn't implemented until the late 90s or even 00s I think. Those look like exactly like an 81 & 85 set from the 80s that I installed for a friend years ago. That's still a popular combination, but it was even more so back then, and of course the battery would just be shoved in the control cavity. Wonder if the OP ever checked?

I haven't gotten round to checking the control cavity but it doesn't look as if it'll be big enough for the pots and a battery.
