The Fender version is cack. If Squier had released their version first, I imagine the sales of the PS VI would be negligible. A humbucker and a five-way versus three single coils, proper switching and BLOCKS AND FREAKING BINDING?

Nearly everything in Squier's Vintage Modified Correct series kills its Fender counterpart. Sure, Fender are trying to do something different with the PS series, but come onnnnn man.

At Squier's VM prices you can spend nearly 100% of the initial cost of the instrument on optional upgrades and end up with something that can't be had off-the-shelf at anywhere near reasonable prices.
