Thanks for the comments. I should have said that the lacquer went on with a gun in a neighbours body shop, but when I posted it was nearing dinner time and I was peckish... sorry to mislead.

Biggest difference in feel will be the fretboards, as the MIJ/vintage will be 7.25, and the Squier will be 9.5.
Thanks, thats a good insight as I hadn't given the fretboard radius much consideration. ...
