Ben - The Les Paul Deluxe sounds like a Tele (really, it does) is that close enough.

In the long run you'd be better off with a semi decent mic and a USB interface. I don't have any real experience of USB mics but I'm sure you'll get better quality from even a budget dynamic mic |

Not free but EZ Drummer 2's pretty good. I use it with Reaper.
I've heard good stuff about it but it's a bit too spendy for me I'm afraid. Anyone got any more ideas? |

Love my LPB1, not the most transparent but adds a slight flavour which I personally like.
A lot of folk seem to be going for the EP Booster at the moment. Might be worth a look.
